Job Description – Retail Store Clerk of the Baptist Book Store

Title: Retail Store Clerk – Full Time

Wages: Starting at $13 per hour

Job Summary: Obtain or receive merchandise, total bill, accept payment, and make change for customers in bookstore by performing the following duties.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Provide a friendly environment which includes greeting and acknowledging all customers, maintaining outstanding standards, and maintaining solid product knowledge along with all other components of customer service.
• Answer customer's questions concerning location, price, and use of merchandise.
• Accurately and efficiently complete all sales transactions; total price and tax on merchandise purchased by customer to determine bill; accept payment and make change.
• Remove and record the amount of cash in register at end of shift.
• Assist in processing and replenishing merchandise; participate in receiving and monitoring floor stock.
• Stock shelves, counters, and tables with merchandise and maintain their cleanliness.
• Stamp, mark, or tag price on merchandise.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational, team building and computer skills.
• Must be able to multitask, work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
• Effectively identify issues; address and resolve them accordingly.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs., and stand for prolonged periods of time including bending, climbing, kneeling, reaching, carrying, pushing, and pulling.
• Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $12.95 - $13.25 per hour

Expected hours: 24 per week
