Our people division is growing, and we are looking for a Cost Control & Contract Specialist with our Underground Engineering department at our Goldrush operations. The successful candidate will s upport the effective administration of project contracts, procurement, and cost management. The role is responsible for cost tracking, cost reporting, and document control and serves as the technical specialist between Goldrush projects and NGM’s supply chain, contracts, purchasing, and inventory control teams.

OrganizationNevada Gold Mines (NGM) is a joint venture between Barrick (61.5%) and Newmont (38.5%) that combined our significant assets across Nevada in 2019 to create the single largest gold-producing complex in the world. NGM produces approximately 3.5 million ounces of gold a year. The massive mining operation comprises eight mines along with their associated infrastructure and processing facilities and hosts three of Barrick’s Tier One assets: Carlin, Cortez, and Turquoise Ridge. Responsibilities
- Conduct and support contract tendering processes including development of COTs, RFP and bid management, and formation of contracts.
- Support evaluation of qualified suppliers / contractors through the analysis of financial status, capacities, quality, general technical capabilities and improvements, management, performance, delivery trends and costing.
- Support contract and change order management
- Oversee administration of purchase orders, invoices, accruals, payments, and cost accounting
- Track projects costs and budgets on a weekly and monthly basis including development of Labor, Equipment, and Material (LEMs) and expenditure reporting templates
- Prepare cost and progress reports against budgets and schedules (Earned Value Management)
- Track and manage AFE approvals and remaining budgets
- Conduct and track project procurement and material management
- Liaise with supply chain, contracts, purchasing and inventory control teams
- Manage and maintain projects document control and support continuous improvement of standards and systems
- Manage and maintain proper naming convention, hierarchy Folder structure, attributes and indexing of documents and files
- Serve as meeting recorder and maintain contractor correspondences and transmission records
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Associates or Bachelors degree in business, accounting, supply chain or related field or equivalent experience is required
- Commercial or project control experience in mining, construction or engineering industry is preferred
- Strong working knowledge of accounting including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable is required
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) required
- SAP, Oracle, or equivalent enterprise level software packages experienced preferred
- Microsoft Project, P6, or equivalent project scheduling software experience preferred
- Document control systems experience preferred
- Effective communication (both oral and written), organization, and interpersonal skills is required
- Strong organizational, clerical, and change management skills are required
- Ability to balance multiple tasks and responsibilities is required
