Position Title: Assistant Project Manager

Summary:

The Assistant Project Manager works on a variety of projects assisting Project Superintendents and Project Managers as directed. This person provides the knowledge, skills, and experience required to assist in the management of office work and day-to-day field operations for construction projects.

The Assistant Project Manager will be involved in all aspects of Project Management from initial buyout to project closeout.

Reports To: Project Manager

Responsibilities:

  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the contract documents including Owner/Client contract, drawings and specifications, contract schedule and company’s commitments associated with such documents.
  • Provide upfront involvement with constructibility reviews, work plan preparation, equipment, and manpower requirements necessary to complete the work on schedule and within budget.
  • Ensure job safety requirements are understood and implemented by all project personnel, including subcontractors.
  • Watch for and correct all safety hazards at the jobsite. Report all safety related incidents to Superintendent and Project Manager.
  • Demonstrate commitment to an injury free workplace through your own actions and mentoring others.
  • Assist in directing day to day on site supervision of the field labor force including foreman, sub-contractors, and other construction related personnel.
  • Ability to communicate with employees and subcontractors, ensuring good working relationship with employees, subcontractors, and clients (good attitude, etc.).
  • Help coordinate construction activities performed by employees, subcontractors, third party inspections, etc.
  • Help coordinate workflow consistent with the project schedule and communicate project priorities to Project Managers and subcontractors.
  • Manage schedules, including preparation of detailed short-term schedules, forecasting resource requirements (manpower, materials, equipment…etc.).
  • Help prepare and submit Superintendents daily reports to document weather and field conditions, employee and subcontractor manpower, progress and conditions impacting the project, as well as timecards, accident reports, quality reports, etc.
  • Direct, coordinate, and facilitate meetings for employees and subcontractors.
  • Understand subcontractors’ and suppliers’ contract scopes of work.
  • Schedule and procure tools and equipment as necessary for the project.
  • Proficient in understanding the project plans and specifications.
  • Verify that all work is installed in a workmanlike manner per the plans and specifications. (ie, plumb, level, straight, etc.)
  • Understands means and methods of construction.
  • Capable of performing a wide variety of tasks including:

o General labor duties

o Rough carpentry

o Finish carpentry

o Painting

o Demolition work

o Sweeping, cleaning, shoveling, large equipment operation, small equipment operation, etc.

o Whatever it takes to get the job completed to the client’s satisfaction

Compensation & Benefits:

Pay: $42,858.47 - $51,614.50 per year
