Appellate Attorney Role
Barry McTiernan & Moore’s Manhattan office is currently seeking an experienced appellate attorney to join our General Litigation group. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience handling appeals involving defense of general liability, property and toxic tort appeals. A background in New York Labor Law is required. Candidates must possess experience in all phases of appeals as well as strong organization, writing and analytical skills. We value collaboration and diversity between our team members and seek to make the practice of law a rewarding experience. Trial experience is not required but is a plus.
Responsibilities
Represent clients in all phases of appeals including drafting appeals and oral argument.
Meticulous compliance with firm and client billing and reporting guidelines.
Attend appellate appearances, hearings, and conferences.
Conduct complex legal research and discovery.
Draft appeals for our attorneys and legal memoranda and other case handling materials in response to client guidelines.
Experience and Qualifications
5 years as an appellate attorney in a defense firm, labor law knowledge required.
Superior court knowledge and experience arguing cases.
Superior case management and advocacy skills.
Experience drafting briefs and appeals in all jurisdictions.
Demonstrate strong organizational skills, time management, and adherence to strict deadlines. Possess excellent written communication skills.
Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and driven with a commitment to excellence. Proficient in Westlaw and/or Lexis.
