Graphic Designer (Part-Time Hourly)

Overview 

Milwaukee-based Bars & Recreation (BAR) owns and operates a collection of entertainment brands: AXE MKE, NorthSouth Club, Nine Below, Splash Studio, Head Space Trivia, Amped, The New Fashioned, and Game Show MKE. 

· AXE MKE offers a controlled environment in which customers can participate in competitive axe throwing.

· NorthSouth Club is the only full-size deck shuffleboard facility in Wisconsin, paired with 16 axe throwing lanes.

· Nine Below offers an innovative team-based twist on indoor miniature golf.

· Splash Studio offers canvas and wood painting projects that can be created from home.

· Head Space Trivia is an online virtual trivia platform paired with a live host.

· Amped offers private suite karaoke and event space for creative meetings and events.

· The New Fashioned serves up Milwaukee classics with a twist. Experience HyperBowling, outdoor street curling, or dartball while enjoying favorite quick eats from Benson’s Restaurant Group.

· Game Show MKE offers a 90-minute live experience featuring games and challenges including The Feud, 20 Second Challenge, Pop Goes the Lyric, and more.

Customers come to us seeking unique, fun, organized opportunities to celebrate life events or just spend time socializing with friends and co-workers. They can make online reservations and book custom events via our proprietary booking system or with assistance from our in-house sales team. Target demographics vary slightly across the brands, but primarily include young professionals between the ages of 25-45. Each brand has its own unique voice and aesthetic; however, all employees and resources are centralized through Bars & Rec.

Job Description

The Graphic Designer assists the Senior Creative Manager with visual marketing efforts across all brands within the Bars & Rec portfolio. This role will assist with crafting on-brand, cohesive, and effective assets needed to support websites, social media campaigns, digital marketing, email blasts, print collateral, and more.

Specific job tasks include:

· Work in tandem with Senior Creative Manager to design on-brand, compelling visual concepts using graphic design tools including design software.

· Select colors, fonts, photographs, layouts and other design elements to communicate creative concepts and meet business goals.

· Design for company promotions and collateral, including print, web, social media, and in-store graphics.

· Keep up to date on trends and graphic requirements for advertising and promotion.

· Ensure projects are high quality and completed on schedule.

· Perform retouching and manipulation of images.

· Maintain all digital and hard copy graphic design files in an organized manner.

· Collaborate in ideation and creative brainstorms as well as conceptualization.

· Support leadership with design approach and execution, often requiring quick turnaround.

· Experiment with new and innovative concepts and design principles to maximize impact.

· Attend meetings as needed.

· Perform other tasks as needed by the Director of Marketing.

Job Location

The Graphic Designer is classified as a Mobile Employee. A company laptop will be provided to work “on the go.” This job will also have access to a desk/shared workspace onsite at a facility.

Per the Remote Work for Exempt Employees Policy in the Bars & Rec Employee Handbook, Mobile Employees do not need to make a request for a Remote Work Agreement, nor do they have limits or guidelines related to how much time or when they can work remotely. However, if an employee is not able to work productively in this type of flexible environment (subject to his or her supervisor’s evaluation), then the employee may be put on a performance improvement plan or the employee may be subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination.

Supervisor

This position reports to the Director of Marketing.

Time Commitment

The Graphic Designer is expected to work approximately 10-20 hours per week. Hours may be needed during daytime, evening, and weekend times depending on meetings, special events and business needs. Hours will be scheduled by your supervisor.

Hourly rate based on experience starting at $20.00/hr, plus a comprehensive benefits package including:

Application Requirements

· Must be at least 21 years old.

· Must have an associate or bachelor’s degree in graphic design, marketing, or applicable field of study.

· Must have at least 2 years of experience in a professional graphic design role.

· Must be proficient in graphic/creative design – specifically able to create in Adobe Creative Suite, including but not limited to Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign; skills in video production and photography a plus.

· Must have excellent time management, organizational, and project management skills.

· Must be able to work independently and contribute in a team environment.

· Must have (or be willing to obtain) personal transportation and a personal cell phone.

· Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint.

· Must be able to read, understand, and follow the Bars & Recreation Employee Handbook.
