Job SummaryUnder general supervision of the Nurse Manager, this position serves as the primary front desk support for Same Day Surgery. Primary duties include clerical and administrative work such as recordkeeping, scheduling appointments, running reports, and assisting with patients when they arrive. Upon patient arrival, ensures registration process is completed.
This is a customer service based position and works primarily with patients, surgeons, OR scheduler and clinical staff. This position works independently and may occasionally provide feedback to the Nurse Manager regarding established administrative workflow or processes in order to make improvements that meet the needs of the department and quality patient care. The Nurse Manager determines the changes and how to implement.
What You Will Do
Please note: In lieu of fringe benefits, casual employees receive a $2 an hour casual differential in addition to their hourly base rate of pay . Casual employees will not be scheduled to work a full time schedule for more than four (4) consecutive months or more than 780 hours annually. Casual employees must work a minimum of one (1) shift within a 90 day period to maintain status and employment.
Internal Hires: Pay rate will be determined based on applicable personnel rule or union contract terms.

What You Will Do
- Answer multiple phones in the PAT office, transferring the caller to the requested party.
- Ensure patient registration process with PAS is completed.
- Escort patients as needed to their room and/or other ancillary departments and
- Retrieve any missing room items that a patient may need for their day of service.
- Works collaboratively with the OR Scheduler to identify alternatives to fill in or delay surgery appointments when surgeons drop or reduce caseload.
- To keep the patient flow moving and efficient, make office supply orders as needed and ensure chart packets are ready and available.
- Takes meeting minutes for staff meetings and summarizes for distribution to staff.
- Compile patient charts using information from physician’s office, previous patient history, and label the pages with identifying information.
- Using a PC platform with the Microsoft and Meditech environment, pulls standard reports from the system for review by the Nurse Manager; recommends where to get requested information and how best to capture the data.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience: One (1) year of data entry and/or analysis, preferably in a medical office.
