A leading organization in the maritime industry is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Junior Buyer/Warehouse Associate to join their team in Lemont, IL . This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in procurement and warehouse operations within a supportive and forward-thinking company.

Position: Junior Buyer/Warehouse Associate
Location: Please note this is located in Lemont, IL
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:30 AM - 4:30 PM

Pay Range: $21-$26/hr.

Role Overview:

As the Junior Buyer/Warehouse Associate, you will be instrumental in managing the procurement of goods and services, maintaining a well-organized warehouse, and ensuring the smooth operation of various logistics processes. Your role will be a blend of procurement tasks and hands-on warehouse responsibilities, making for a dynamic and engaging workday.

Key Responsibilities:

Procurement Tasks: Purchase a wide range of items, from groceries for vessels to essential marine and safety supplies. Request RFQs, assist in identifying potential vendors, and build and maintain vendor relationships to ensure timely product and service delivery.
Warehouse Management: Keep the warehouse clean, safe, and organized. Monitor inventory levels, recommend replenishments, operate a forklift, as needed, and manage the internal catalog with updated pricing and new items.
Operational Support: Collaborate with various departments to determine procurement needs, review and approve purchase orders, handle routine expedites, track deliveries, and provide delivery services as needed.
Additional Duties: Back up other warehouse and procurement positions when required, manage vehicle service and maintenance, and track inbound packages.

Qualifications:

Experience: Minimum of one year in procurement or purchasing with a strong understanding of inventory management and vendor relations.
Skills: Excellent communication and organizational skills, the ability to work both independently and as part of a team, and attention to detail. Forklift experience/certification and a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record are required. Ability to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) is required.
Attributes: A trusted partner who demonstrates diligence and reliability. A continuous improvement mindset, eagerness to learn, and the ability to embody humble, hungry, and smart attitudes will set you up for success in this role.
Physical Requirements: This position involves frequent lifting and carrying of objects weighing at least 40 lbs, as well as frequent standing, sitting, walking, reaching, bending, kneeling, and stooping.
