Basic Solutions is Hiring an Optical Test Engineer Near Redmond, WA
Job DescriptionOptical Test Engineer Duties:
- Characterization of optical components and modules of AR/VR Displays
- Performing the following tests across different components and modules
- Roughness or profile measurements
- Thickness, flatness, and parallelism
- Color profile or spectral response
- Image quality metrics such as MTF, PSF, etc.
- Polarization
- Alignment of optical components for testing and characterization
- Setting up and managing demos to engineers and other focus groups around the quality and performance of a system
- Creating test experiments and jigs to perform analysis on optical components
- Collecting and performing statistical analysis on metrology data to correlate to performance metrics
- Hands-on experience with various optical metrology tools such as MTF testers, interferometers, profilometers, spectrometers, ellipsometers, microscopes etc.
- Experience in working in an optical lab and knowledge of best laboratory practices
- Knowledge of geometrical and physical optics
- Knowledge of imaging optics, image quality metrics, optical metrology and characterization
- Knowledge of color measurement principles
- Experience in test automation (instrument control and data collection) using LabView, MATLAB or Python.
- Ability to script and prototype image analysis algorithms in MATLAB or Python
- 3 years of relevant experience in industry or academics
- Degree in optics, optical engineering, physics, electrical engineering or related field is preferred
