bastion technologies is Hiring a Software Assurance Quality Engineer (BT-24114) Near Huntsville, AL

The Software Assurance Quality Engineer will support the MSMAS at MSFC in Huntsville AL. The successful candidate will perform software assurance analyses and assessments related to quality and reliability of flight software. The engineer will review and analyze engineering design concepts and software assurance plans, assuring compliance with NASA quality policies and standards for software. The predominant function for the quality engineer will be the assurance of requirements traceability and software code reviews for compliance to organizational standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The candidate will perform software assurance functions for one or more NASA programs at MSFC.
  • The candidate will assess the completeness of engineering software processes according to plans, work instructions and standards.
  • The candidate will assess the successful verification and validation of requirements by engineering.
  • The candidate will perform post test data analysis to assure consistency with engineering results.
  • The candidate will participate in process and technical product quality audits.
  • The candidate will perform C and Python software code reviews.
  • The engineer must be willing and able to collaborate with engineering organization.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED:

This position has been posted at multiple levels (must meet minimum level indicated). Depending on the candidate's experience, requirements, and business needs, we reserve the right to consider candidates at any level for which this position has been advertised.

  • This position requires US Citizenship due to the sensitivity of customer related information.
  • Must have a bachelor's degree in the field of systems engineering, aerospace engineering, computer engineering, computer science, software engineering, or a software-related field.
  • Must have 5 years of recent and related work experience.
  • In lieu of degree: Candidates with 9 years of recent and related work experience will be considered.
  • Must have experience performing software quality assurance and testing activities related to embedded software systems and associated technical products.
  • Must have knowledge of software process auditing from an accrediting agency (ISO, CMMI or similar).
  • Must understand the software development life cycle (requirements, design, implementation, and test) and the entry and exit criteria associated with Program/Project milestone reviews including waterfall and agile methodologies.

DESIRED:

  • Able to evaluate engineering for compliance with NASA-STD 7150.2x in accordance with NASA-STD 8739.8x

WORK LOCATION:

  • This position offers a hybrid work schedule (three days in office).
  • This position offers a 9/80 schedule, every other Friday off.
  • This position may require some travel.

BACKGROUND INVESTIGATIONS REQUIRED:

All Bastion employees must be able to pass a national agency check, some positions require a clearance and will require an extensive background verification/check process.

DRUG AND ALCOHOL SCREENING REQUIRED:

All Bastion employees must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen; some contracts require participation in periodic random drug and alcohol screening programs.

STANDARD BASTION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • All of Bastion's employees must be team players.
  • Able to communicate effectively, verbally and in written form, with internal and external customers.
  • Able to follow company programs, processes, procedures, practices, requirements, goals, and objectives.
  • Must have a strong work ethic and must be safety culture oriented.
  • Must be organized with good time management skills.
  • Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task.
  • Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time).
  • May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of time).
  • Regular attendance in accordance with an established work schedule is critical.
  • Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.
