- High school diploma or GED
- Have met formal academic assessment, associate's degree, or two years of study at an institution of higher learning\*
- Valid Texas educational aide certificate
- Ability to work well with children

- Ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics
Characteristic Duties & Responsibilities**Instructional Support**
- Provide instruction to students under the direction of teacher; work with individual students or small groups.
- Help teachers in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays.
- Assist with administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or work assignments.
- Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom.
- Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.
- Help teachers keep administrative records and prepare required reports.
- Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
- Help supervise students throughout school day, inside and outside classroom, including lunchroom, bus, and playground duty.
- Keep teachers informed of special needs or problems of individual students.
- Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance.
- Participate in staff development training programs, faculty meetings, and special events as assigned.
- Follow district policies and procedures pertaining to the job assignment.

- **Tools/Equipment Used** : Personal computer and peripherals; standard instructional equipment; _[P.E. teachers: automated external defibrillator (AED)]_
- **Posture:** Prolonged standing; frequent kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
- **Motion:** Frequent walking
- **Lifting:** Regular light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds); may lift and move textbooks and classroom equipment.
- **Environment:** Work inside, may work outside; regular exposure to noise
- **Mental Demands:** Maintain emotional control under stress; work prolonged or irregular hours
