Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma is required; post-secondary education preferred.
  • Excellent communication and organization skills.
  • Experience working with students in an educational setting required; experience working with elementary school students and/or special education students preferred.


Classroom Title:
Reach Room

Level: Primary

The Reach Room is a designated classroom space to:

  • Provide behavioral support and instruction.
  • Serve as a safe environment for students needing additional behavioral and social-emotional support.
  • Serve as an area where students can safely calm down and prepare for re-entry into the general education or special education classroom.
  • Provide small group instruction and re-teaching for students who need additional support in specific areas based on data.


Position Title:
Reach Room Behavior Interventionist

Level: Primary

The Reach Room Behavior Interventionist will:

  • Work at Batesville Primary School in conjunction with the corporation special education department and BPS staff working specifically with the BPS assistant principal, counselor, and the BCSC behavior consultant.
  • Oversee and coordinate the new BPS Reach Room providing supervision, instruction, and leadership of students.
  • Assist students with behavior modifications and develop skills needed to be a successful learner.
  • Work with general education teachers and special education teachers to assist with instruction.
  • Assist the assistant principal and counselor with behavior intervention, social-emotional learning, and Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS).
  • Work with the behavior consultant to track student data and progress monitor student goals.
  • Fullfill additional duties and responsibilities assigned by the administration.
