JOB DESCRIPTION

We are seeking a dynamic Communications Specialist responsible for developing and managing engaging content that drives brand awareness, engages our audience, and promotes our values. This role is pivotal in shaping our brand's narrative through various communication channels and strategies. The ideal candidate is a skilled communicator with a keen eye for detail and a successful track record in delivering impactful communication campaigns.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Content Development: Create high-quality, engaging, and persuasive written content for various platforms, including press releases, blog posts, newsletters, website copy, and social media content.
  • Brand Messaging: Ensure all communication, swag, and materials align with our brand voice, messaging, and overall strategic objectives.
  • Brand Events: Support the conceptualization and planning, and lead execution of brand campaigns, support on events and programming launches, and promotions that align with the brands’ objectives.
  • Communication Strategy: Collaborate with the communications team to develop comprehensive communication plans and tactics for specific campaigns and projects.
  • Messaging Campaigns: Assist in developing and implementing communication plans for issue messaging campaigns, ensuring alignment with the overall strategy. Monitor performance and provide insights for improvement.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and integration of communication strategies with other departments.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Experience: Two to three years of strategic communications, public relations, or a similar role in education/community-related issue areas preferred (affordable housing, public health, criminal justice reform, etc.)
  • Exceptional Writing Skills: Strong writing and editing abilities with a portfolio of diverse written materials.
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous in ensuring accuracy and consistency in all communications.
  • Creativity: Ability to think outside the box and develop innovative communication strategies.
  • Adaptability: Thrive in a fast-paced environment and can manage multiple projects with tight deadlines.
  • Team Player: Excellent collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Passion for Our Mission: A demonstrated commitment to ensuring access to high-quality school options for every student in Baton Rouge and experience working on community-driven change

COMPENSATION

This is a full-time role with a salary range of $45,000 - 55,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications. In addition, the Baton Rouge Alliance for Students provides a comprehensive benefits package that includes individual health and dental insurance, paid time off, and a 401(k) plan with company-matching contributions.
