Bayview Nursing & Rehabilitation -

Located in the beautiful coastal community of New Bern, Bayview Nursing & Rehabilitation Center is one of the leading providers of short term rehabilitation and long term care in Eastern NC. Our 60 bed state of the art Skilled Nursing Facility and 12-bed Assisted Living wing have recently undergone renovation.

We provide residents with a full range of long-term care and rehabilitation services, along with a variety of engaging social and recreational activities. We currently have a need for CNA full time and part time 7-3 full time & part-time, & 3-11 full-time, 11-7 part-time

ALSO A SIGN ON BONUS $2500 IF START AS A FULL-TIME EMPLOYEE

Assist professional nursing staff by performing duties in caring for residents at facility; work under supervision of professional nurse; execute resident assessment and plans of care; provide for safety, comfort and well-being of resident.

The person holding this position is delegated the responsibility for carrying out the assigned duties and responsibilities in accordance with current existing federal and state regulations and established facility policy and procedures.

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to lift fifty (50) pounds. Moving, lifting or transferring of patients may involve lifting of up to 100 pounds
  • Ability to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull or carry patients
  • Ability to use abdominal and lower back muscles over time without fatigue
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Ability to bend, stoop, stretch, twist, sit, and reach
  • Fine motor skills
  • Visual acuity

Physical Demand Ratings are an estimate of the overall strength requirements that are considered to be important for an

average, successful work performance of a specific job. In order to classify the occupation of a worker with a physical demand rating, the most strenuous and frequently performed tasks are evaluated.

The overall physical demand rating for a job of the CNA falls within the Medium classification according to the Dictionary of Occupational Titles. However, due to the population in this facility, this position has been classified as Heavy (exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 20 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects*).

EXPOSURE RISK:

Tasks assigned to this position may involve potential and/or direct exposure to blood, body fluids, infectious disease, air contaminants, and hazardous chemicals.

MAJOR WORK ACTIVITIES:

1)Receive oral reports and written assignments from supervising nurse at the beginning of each shift and as needed should changes occur.

2)Provide maximum resident-care services to assure will-being of resident to greatest degree.

3)Execute and document either electronically or written, performed duties/tasks related to the residents care each shift in conformance with established routine.

4)Execute duties in conformance with established routine and the residents plan of care, not limited to the list below:

a.Making a Bed, occupied and unoccupied

b.Bed Bath, Shower Bath, Tub Bath

c.Shampoo

d.Care of Fingernails/Feet and Toenails

e.Oral hygiene and denture care

f.Hair care

g.Assisting a Resident to dress or undress

h.Shaving a Resident

i.Comfort measures for rest and night

j.Reality Orientation

5)Ambulate and transfer residents utilizing appropriate assistive devices and body mechanics:

a.Using a Lift Sheet

b.Log Rolling

c.Moving up in bed

d.Turning towards and away from you

e.Putting on and off a bedpan

f.Assisting a resident to get up

g.Transfer from bed to chair/wheelchair or from chair/wheelchair to bed

h.Assisting a resident to walk

i.Proper use of mechanical lifts

6)Routinely turn and position residents in bed or chair:

a.On back, on side, on stomach

b.Sitting position on bed or in chair

7)Take resident vital signs (temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure) as directed by the nurse:

a.Temperatures Oral, Rectal, Axillary, Ear, Forehead

b.Taking a radical pulse

8)Pass trays, feed and assist residents as needed with dining and provide:

a.Adult Clothes Protector

b.Assisting a resident to feed himself and feeding techniques and supplemental feedings

c.Removing the food tray

d.Record intake

e.Provide fresh ice water each shift

9)Elimination:

a.Bowel/Bladder Training

b.Assisting with a bedpan

c.Routine Urine Collection

d.Enema

e.Record Output and record BM

a.Assist in daily requirements and tasks in care and treatment of residents, responding to call lights and resident needs, etc.

b.Admission/Discharge of the Resident


c.Weighing and measuring height of a Resident


11)Assist with execution of resident plan of care.

12)Work to provide physical comfort, safety and mental well-being of residents within scope of practice.

13)Detect, correct, and report situation that have a probability of causing accidents or injuries to residents.

14)Observe and report symptoms, reactions, and changes of residents to the supervising nurse.

15)Possess knowledge and can actively demonstrate competent completion of skills identified within scope of practice.

16)Possess knowledge and can actively demonstrate Standard Precautions and Isolation techniques for infection control purposes.

17)Encourage and assist residents, as needed, to participate in recreational, occupational, and physical therapies and other rehabilitative measures to promote activity of mind and body.

18)Clean use equipment and return to proper place after using, such as washbasins, bed pans, urinals, etc.

19)Check residents frequently, and before going off duty, to be sure that they are clean and dry.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: High School Diploma, GED, or adult equivalent,

Graduate of an accredited Nurse Aide Training Program

Licensure/Certification: Valid and unencumbered North Carolina Certification for Nurse Aide

Experience: Although long-term care experience is preferred, experience is not required.
