BBS Automation Chicago is a global supplier of custom-built, automated assembly and test systems.

BBS is currently looking for a Lead mechanical builder. You will assemble, debug, install, and service all types of industrial automation equipment, with attention to the schedule and budget of each project. You are an effective, efficient team member, with good organizational and communication skills. You will collaborate with the project manager, project engineers (electrical and mechanical), electrical builders, and other mechanical builders. See below for further details.

• Builds machines using assembly drawings or Solid Works models; abides by assembly prints and customer specifications
• Applies debug skills; communicates and collaborates with programmers re machine operation
• Verifies conformity of parts to BOM and prints; records any necessary changes
• Travels to perform installations and service calls as needed
• When not building projects, works in the machine shop manufacturing parts (per machinist job description)
• One-year certificate from a technical school/apprenticeship plus journeyman tenure or related experience (as toolmaker/machinist)
• Understands geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) and fits of precision parts
• Experienced in running machine shop equipment, and also uses hand tools such as drills, grinders, and mag drills
• Knowledge of pneumatic systems, simple electrical circuits, and vacuum systems

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

• High school diploma or equivalency
• Ten years minimum experience in machine building
• Journeyman toolmaker or equivalent skills
• Strong mechanical aptitude
