BBVA in the USA is Hiring a Counterparty Credit Risk Officer - Financial Institutions - Insurance Near New York, NY

BBVA NY is looking for a Senior Counterparty Credit Risk Officer for our Financial Institutions Group in NY with a specialization of knowing and working on Financial Sponsors (Capital Call Facilities), and can also have working knowledge of other Non-Bank Financial Institutions including Insurance Companies, Broker-Dealers, Investment Managers, Hedge Funds, Mutual Fund Families, and others).

This position will specialise in Insurance Companies and will need at least 5-10 years of relevant credit experience.

High Level Responsibilities:

- Credit analysis and workings of Capital Call facilities (including the Financial Sponsor, the Limited Partners, The Investors and their Capital Call commitments)

- Financial Institutions credit analysis for U.S. entities (Non-Bank Financial Institutions, Insurance Companies, Financial Sponsors, Investment Managers and Hedge Funds)

- Counterparty risk monitoring for NY Branch (Bank) and BSI (U.S. Broker-Dealer)

- Credit and Trading Limit approvals for all products including Loan Facilities (Long Term and Short Term). Global Trade Finance (Guaranty and SLBC's), Treasury (FI and FX), Repo and DVP

- Counterparty Credit Limit approvals for Onboarding of Counterparties in NY for the Broker-Dealer

- Knowledge of ISDA / CSA / CDEA / GMRA documentation, negotiations and monitoring for Financial Institutions

- Provide timely and accurate reports when needed to follow-up on monitoring and results for trading activity and limit requests

- Ability to maintain credit files and folders to make sure everything is accurate to field internal audits and credit quality control

- Ability and knowledge of Excel to coordinate spreadsheets and information of trading systems

- Ability to handle oneself in potentially high stress environment with occasion crunch time deadlines

Responsibilities

Monitors the risk quality and credit process as established in the monitoring & BBVA policies.

Analyze quality risk indicators (trends, variations, problems) to minimize losses (less complex analysis).

Provide timely and accurate reports on follow up and monitoring activity and results to the Monitoring & Follow up Committee, Board, Spain, etc to allow them to make decisions regarding credit quality.

Monitor credit quality risk indicators to minimize losses or unnecessary increase in provisions.

Education/Experience

- Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting or related field with Five to Seven years (5-7) of Finance, Credit Risk, or Underwriting, Loan Review experience. Work experience may substitute for education requirements.

- Ability to speak and read Spanish is a bonus, but not a requirement.

  • Preferred: None preferred, although Series 7, 24, 63 (or similar additional knowledge a bonus to have), and licenses can be maintained.

With respect to this position in our New York Office, the expected base salary ranges from $130,000 to $190,000. It is not typical for offers to be made at or near the top of the range. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus.
