The role requires excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills and a commitment to achieving favorable outcomes for clients.Key Responsibilities:Attend in-person and virtual hearings, status conferences, mediations, depositions, and trials as directed.Negotiate settlements between parties and other attorneys.Meet with clients and potential clients to understand their legal needs and effectively explain legal issues, goals, and outcomes.Manage own caseload under the supervision of a senior attorney with staff support.Prepare accurate and timely legal documents, including but not limited to motions, orders, interrogatories, discovery, briefs, settlements, and judgments.Prepare for trials, including drafting direct and cross-examinations, preparing witnesses, and correctly entering exhibits.Develop ethical and cost-effective arguments to resolve cases favorably for clients.Conduct research and compile evidence for cases.Requirements:Active member in good standing of the Michigan State Bar.3-5 years of litigation experience.3-5 years of family law and mediation experience desired.Self-motivated, reliable, and values the importance of a strong work ethic.Adaptable team player with a growth mindset.Skills:Great oral argument skills and the ability to think on your feet.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Ability to communicate clearly and effectively and build rapport with clients, support staff, opposing parties, opposing counsel, experts, witnesses, and court personnel.Great attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions while working independently.Excellent organizational and time management skills necessary to prioritize competing priorities and meet all deadlines.Strong research, drafting, and written communication skills.Education and Certifications:Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.Active membership and good standing with the Michigan State Bar.Job Location:Muskegon, MI
