The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical engineering, with exposure to electrical engineering and material science, particularly in hand tools, power tools, battery technology, and electronics.Job Duties:Conducting patentability and freedom-to-operate searches and analyses.Drafting and prosecuting patent applications.Providing intellectual property counseling to clients on patent strategy and portfolio management.Conducting due diligence and drafting opinions relating to intellectual property matters.Handling intellectual property litigation matters, including patent infringement litigation.Assisting in licensing negotiations and agreements.Conducting intellectual property audits and assessments.Requirements:Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.Admission to the state bar of Indiana (or ability to waive in).Minimum of 3 years of experience practicing intellectual property law, focusing on patent prosecution and litigation.Technical background in mechanical engineering; familiarity with electrical engineering and material science preferred.Experience with patent searches, drafting patent applications, and client counseling.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Certifications (preferred):Registration to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).Skills:Proficiency in conducting patent searches using patent databases and other resources.Ability to draft clear and concise patent applications and legal documents.Strong understanding of patent laws and regulations.Capability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.Team-oriented with the ability to collaborate with attorneys and staff across different practice areas.
