This role is ideal for a detail-oriented and proactive individual with experience in employment litigation. The Junior Attorney will support the firm's legal team by drafting complex legal documents, overseeing discovery, conducting legal research, and representing clients under supervision. The successful candidate will be expected to manage assigned cases efficiently, provide direction to support staff, and contribute to the firm's overall success.Duties:Draft and/or review complex pleadings, motions, briefs, orders, and other legal documents.Oversee and analyze discovery processes.Conduct thorough legal research to support case preparation.Draft legal memos and prepare case outlines for depositions, mediations, settlement conferences, hearings, and trials.Conduct initial client meetings to gather case details and establish client goals.Communicate with witnesses and gather evidence to support cases.Provide direction to and answer legal questions from support staff, including paralegals and legal assistants.Prepare and execute legal strategies for assigned cases under the supervision of Owners or Senior Associates.Advise clients regarding their best legal interests after conferring with supervising attorneys, serving as the secondary contact between the firm and clients.Represent clients in settlement negotiations, mediation, depositions, and court hearings, including motions, trials, and other types of hearings, under direct supervision.Manage assigned cases and delegate case work appropriately to legal assistants and paralegals.Assist the contingency team in meeting monthly complaint, demand, and revenue goals.Attend case status meetings and take necessary actions to advance cases.Requirements:Bachelor’s degree (four-year) from an accredited institution.Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.Licensed to practice law in West Virginia.Preferred: 2-3 years of experience working in a law firm, particularly in employment litigation.Strong drafting and legal writing skills.Proficiency in conducting legal research and preparing case outlines.Ability to manage cases efficiently and provide clear direction to support staff.Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.Ability to represent clients effectively under supervision and handle client interactions professionally.Education Certifications:Bachelor’s degree (four-year) from an accredited institution.Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.Licensed to practice law in West Virginia.Skills:Expertise in drafting legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and briefs.Strong analytical skills for overseeing and analyzing discovery.Proficient in conducting legal research and preparing legal memos.Ability to manage caseloads and provide direction to support staff.Effective client communication and representation skills.Proficiency in preparing case outlines for various legal proceedings.Strong organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks.Job Location:Morgantown, WVBenefits Offered:Health benefits.401(k) contributions.
