ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Under the direction of the COO, the Safety Coordinator will be responsible for the following:
•Compiles and keeps all required work site safety records, safety manuals, SDS and accident forms that are required by contract, insurance companies and relevant governing agencies.
•Conducts regular on-site inspections in the manufacturing facility, warehouse, and offices.
•Observes workplace conditions and makes necessary recommendation for corrective actions regarding health and safety.
•Enforces safety policy and procedure and recommends required corrective action when necessary.•Submits daily, weekly, and monthly reports.
•Oversees and works with Plant Manager, HR Manager & Shop COO to record weekly safety meetings.
•Reviews and investigates accidents, incidents or serious injuries occurring and notify the Production Manager & HR Manager of pertinent details.
•Carefully analyze reports from accident investigations to ascertain root cause and corrective action needed.
•Reviews and recommends continued training of employees in safe and efficient work methods.
•Complies with OSHA regulations and standards, including OSHA compliance, inspections, and citations.
•Coordinates with the HR Manager as it pertains to worker’s compensation and other safety issues.
•Evaluates hazardous conditions and practices and develops hazard control practices and programs.
•Guides and assists Plant Manager to ascertain critical safety issues and health problems.
•Works with Plant Manager to promote goals and objectives in the health and safety area that affect the company's business.
•Assesses new developments in the health and safety field that may have application to the company's operations and make recommendations to the Production Manager.
•Keeps apprised of developments in federal, state and city safety laws likely to affect the company.
•Works with the Plant Manager to protect company interests as it relates to environmental health, workplace safety and risk management.
•Other duties as assigned related to environmental health and safety and worker’s compensation including assist HR/Safety Manager as requested.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
•Associate degree in occupational safety and health or related field; AND 2 years of work-related experience; OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience as determined by Human Resources.
•Occupational Hygiene & Safety Technician (OHST certification Preferred)
•Certified Safety Professional (CSP Preferred)
•OSHA 10 (Preferred)
•Leadership experience supervising/ working in a Manufacturing Facility.
•Demonstrated knowledge of OSHA and DOT rules and regulations.
•Experienced with MS Office programs.
•Prior forklift Experience (Preferred)
•Bilingual in Spanish (Preferred)
•Working knowledge of OSHA regulations, fire, and life-safety codes, first aid, accident investigation and other regulatory agencies. Prior experience working in a manufacturing setting as a Safety Coordinator or Consultant.
