Job Summary
At BDA, Human Resources is focused on creating a positive employee experience, understanding what employees need, and how we can provide support. Within this role, the HR Generalist will support our retail locations, primarily located in the Seattle-area, in a wide variety of responsibilities throughout the entire employee lifecycle. This includes high-volume recruiting, employee relations, labor relations and training and development. This person has experience working in a union environment and understands the intricacies of a union workplace. Will act as the first point of contact for all employee matters, questions, and concerns. Is welcoming and solicits feedback from employees and partners with leadership to continue to refine processes. Understands when to escalate employee issues to the HR Director as appropriate.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
•Create recruitment plans and calendars according to operation and sales projections
•Execute on recruitment plans and act in the 'always recruiting' mode to ensure proper staffing levels are maintained
•Work with HR Operations Specialist to ensure offer letters and onboarding process is completed timely
•Create onboarding plans and educating new hires on HR policies, internal procedures and the facilities in which they report to
•Be fully proficient in the Collective Bargaining Agreement for the location(s) that this applies
•Support management in complying with the CBA and partnering with the local union representation to resolve issues as outlined in the CBA
•Maintain physical and digital files for employees and their documents, and attendance records
•Create employee engagement plans, getting necessary budget approval and initiating activities
•Collaborating with Sr. HR Business Partners, upper management and employees to maintain customer service standards
•Evaluating employee performance and work with management to take appropriate disciplinary action against employees who violate rules and regulations and addressing employee grievances
•Will be in store daily and support employees and management with compliance, engagement and performance coaching, as needed
•Provide on-site support for check-in during game days and tracking call-offs and no shows
•Will help to manage schedules and ensure meal-break compliance is met
JOB SKILLS AND TRAITS
•Strong collaborator with ability to work with various stakeholders

•Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong interpersonal skills
•Approachable with excellent customer service skills
•Self-motivated
•Takes initiative to identify and anticipate HR needs and makes recommendations to implement
•Ability to think critically and solve problems
QUALIFICATIONS
•BA/BS degree in Human Resources or a related field
•Minimum 2-3 years of working experience as an HR Generalist (4-5 years total HR experience of a progressive nature in these areas: coordinator/specialists/recruiting)
•Working knowledge of Collective Bargaining Agreements and union environments is required
•Experience working in HR in a retail environment preferred
•Experience in CA labor laws is a plus
•SHRM-CP or PHR certification is a plus
•Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Smartsheet and PowerPoint
•Prior HRIS experience with ADP Workforce Now is required
•Prior ATS experience with Greenhouse is a plus
We are pleased to share the base salary range for this position is $75,000 to $80,000. If you are hired at BDA, your compensation will be determined based on factors that may include geographic location, skills, education, and experience. In addition to these factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as a part of any offer. In the spirit of pay transparency, the range listed is the full base salary range for the role and hiring at the top of the range would not be typical, in order to allow for future salary growth. The range listed is just one component of BDA's total compensation and rewards programs, which includes: robust PTO; vacation, a paid volunteer day, holidays and summer Fridays, Benefits; medical, dental, vision, life, and AD&D insurance, 401k; tuition reimbursement, mental health and financial wellness programs and professional development opportunities including tuition reimbursement. Certain revenue-generating positions may be eligible for incentive compensation.
