What We Are Looking For:

This position supports our engineering and field teams to produce and deliver technical and management reports/deliverables as necessary across our business portfolio. This position is also responsible for managing their projects scope, schedule and budget, all while ensuring client satisfaction. Project managers at BDI have and further develop these skills: Communication, Leadership, Planning, Problem Solving, Time Management, Prioritization, and Delegation.

What You’ll Do:

Project Management

  • Manage logistical plans, client correspondence, project execution, field and reporting deadlines, project budgets, and invoicing for assigned projects.
  • This position manages the project from beginning to end including scope development, schedule and financials.
  • Create project plan, staffing schedule, and equipment needs according to contract scope and complexity.
  • Communicate project plan, preparation and logistics with engineers and technicians.
  • Write, update, and submit deliverables for final approval on assigned projects.
  • Collaborate on schedules, analysis, project deliverables, and best practices with other Project Managers.
  • Assist analysis team with project deliverables through project reports and findings.
  • Review project photos and updates from engineers and technicians to provide guidance on next steps and update project timeline.
  • Ensure all project completion and closeout documentation is compiled.
  • Ensure all Job Hazard Analysis and Behavioral Based Safety Management requirements are met.
  • Review all project financials routinely to ensure client and company goals are met.
  • Effectively use company financial system to analyze project performance.
  • Effectively communicate project issues and milestones.

Project Execution

  • Coordinate with production and field crews ensuring they are following BDI standards including but not limited to system design; AutoCAD drawings, verifying against project specifications, and project close out.
  • Ensure staff receive proper training.
  • Enforce all company safety standards, working with the company’s safety director.
  • Manage staff that are working in a variety of conditions including heights, overnight shifts, and in all types of weather conditions.
  • Be available to provide direct field support as required to ensure project outcome.
  • Support personnel management when required.

Non-Destructive Evaluation Duties:

  • Perform routine operations of all NDE equipment.
  • Perform routine material testing, create and update drawings, and write technical reports.
  • Perform routine data collection and in-field interpretation on nondestructive techniques.
  • Perform material collection for subsequent material testing.

What You Need to Be Successful:

  • Exposure and experience in acoustic, ultrasonic, electromagnetic, and electrochemical nondestructive evaluation, testing, data processing and analysis, report writing, and client interaction.
  • Ability to balance field and office work.
  • Proficient knowledge of bridges, dams, and other heavy civil infrastructure and how to test and interpret analysis data.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills that can address multiple audiences.
  • General experience with various instrumentation, testing, monitoring, and/or structural monitoring is a plus.
  • Ability to drive results through strong project management and on-site supervision.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree of Civil Engineering or Construction Management
  • Project management experience (in the engineering services or civil construction)
  • Experience leading, managing, and developing personnel
  • EIT and P.E. certification preferred
  • Willing to travel (20% field work) and willing to work out in the field
  • Experience with hand tools

Starting Salary Range: $80,000 - $100,000 per year dependent on experience
