Position Summary

The Family Contact Trainer is responsible for providing “Family Contact Best Practices” training, follow up learning exchanges, and coaching for the transfer of learning supports to professionals, relative foster parents, foster parents, and volunteer Family Time Supporters as outlined in the Family Contact Best Practices Guide for Professionals and in the Best Practices Guide for Family Time Supporters; responsible for providing technical assistance and consulting services to family contact providers on policies, protocols, and practices; responsible for networking with Family Contact provider agencies across the state.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Supervise the expansion of Family Contact Best Practices.

Essential Functions

Training

• Provide trainings of the Family Contact Best Practices curriculum
• Develop learning exchange materials based on Family Contact Best Practices curriculum to provide ongoing learning opportunities

Coaching

• Coach professional and non-professional family contact facilitators in application of best practices.
• Coach organizations in the implementation of Family Contact Best Practices into their policies and procedures

Networking

• Participate in ROCK Mat-Su and Family Contact Improvement Partnership meetings
• Network with family contact providers in government, tribal, private and non-profit sectors outside of the Mat-Su in Family Contact Best Practices
• Utilize implementation science principles to further develop and aid in the expansion of Family Contact Best Practices in and beyond Mat-Su

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or equivalent field (psychology, social work, counseling) or equivalent experience in foster care, adoption support or family support services provision
• 3 or more years of experience providing supports and services to children and families involved with the public child welfare system (voluntary child welfare, child protection, foster care and/or adoption)
• 2 or more years of experience facilitating training and other learning opportunities, such as webinars, learning exchanges, or communities of practice
• Experience with public speaking, including presentations either in-person or virtually
• Experience working with persons from diverse cultures and backgrounds other than one’s own
• Experience in the use of Microsoft office suite and exploration of technology including project management software, meeting platforms (Zoom, Teams), webinar and video conferencing tools, and social media channels

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Social Work
• 4 or more years of experience providing supports and services to children and families involved with the public child welfare system (voluntary child welfare, child protection, foster care and/or adoption)
• 3 or more years of experience facilitating training and other learning opportunities, such as webinars, learning exchanges, or communities of practice
• Experience networking with various sectors: government, for-profit, non-profit, private, court systems, etc.
• Experience with program implementation and fidelity

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $28.00 - $30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 15 – 20 per week
