We are seeking an exceptional Hardware Architect to join our rapidly growing team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing fieldable prototypes and systems that leverage our high-performance integrated lasers and chip-scale photonics platform. The ideal candidate will have extensive expertise in the design and implementation of advanced electrical and optical hardware, with a proven ability to create operational systems incorporating digital, analog, and RF electronics. As a key team member, you will refine and deliver products, propose and lead technical efforts, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and report directly to senior leadership. Responsibilities:

• Lead the design, simulation, and prototyping of advanced electronic and optical hardware based on high-performance chip-scale lasers and integrated photonics components
• Deliver optical microsystems and supporting electrical hardware based on digital, analog, and RF electronics, FPGAs, and microcontrollers
• Collaborate with a team of optics and photonics engineers, providing expertise in electronics and optoelectronic packaging to guide product development
• Establish and execute scalable procedures and workflows for the engineering team, including design and simulation, part procurement, fabrication, test, and assembly
• Shape the company’s future by building capabilities, proposing and leading new efforts, and supporting ongoing development activities
• Work closely with senior leadership to inform technical decisions and company direction

Requirements:

• Master’s or Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering, physics, or similar field
• 3 years of professional experience in microelectronics, photonics, or optical systems
• Hands-on expertise with digital, analog, and RF circuit architecture, design, simulation, prototyping, and PCB design
• Proficiency in programming FPGAs (VHDL / Verilog) and microcontrollers (C / Python)
• Expertise in one or more applications of optical systems, such as communications, sensing, industrial processing, defense, and quantum technology
• Demonstrated success in the preparation of technical proposals, publications, and patents
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong work ethic, and attention to detail

Desirable Skills and Experience:

• Design of low-noise circuits, especially for optical driver/receiver applications
• Digital signal processing and control loops for lasers and optical systems
• Design, simulation, test, and packaging of semiconductors and fiber optic components
• Managing vendors for manufacturing, procurement, and assembly
