Second Shift Compounding Support Manager

Position Summary

The Second Shift Compounding Support Manager will be responsible for the overall Pre-Weigh, Compounding, and Sanitation Departments. This position will monitor and track the accuracy and timeliness of all related documentation and SAGE X3 ERP transactions related to all Pre-Weigh Work Orders, as well as cycle counts. This position will oversee, assign, and supervise the work of all Pre-Weigh associates.

This position will work as part of a team, both internally with other departments and externally with customers, to accomplish company goals and metrics.

Responsibilities and Essential Duties

  • Overall responsibility for all Pre-Weigh, Compounding and Sanitation employees, including the Supervisor and Leads.
  • Interview, train, supervise, counsel, discipline, and evaluate Pre-Weigh/Compounding/Sanitation personnel.
  • Report any issues that are considered a safety violation/hazard to the 2nd shift Director and Safety Committee.
  • Ensure employees are trained on Environmental Health and Safety policies, company policies, Good Manufacturing practices, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and Work Instructions (WIs) through training sessions and/or a daily meetings.
  • Ensure all employees and the work environments are safe and sanitary by performing weekly and department-wide audits.
  • Report to the 2nd Shift Director/HR and investigate any employee work-related injuries.
  • Ensure, through inspection, all assigned employees write accurately and legibly all required information on any control document such as batch sheets, formulas, logbooks, and any other controlled documents assigned.
  • Maintain and update Pre-Weigh/Compounding/Sanitizing SOPs and WIs, as well as co-author any new SOPs/WIs, as needed.
  • Work closely with Quality in investigating batch errors and implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Work with Production and Scheduling, as needed, to plan schedules and ensure that the production schedule is met.
  • Submit requisitions to the 2nd Shift Director for supplies based on evaluating needs of Compounding, Pre-Weigh and Sanitation.
  • Submit requisitions to Director of Compounding Pre-Weigh for supplies based on evaluating needs of Compounding and Pre-Weigh.
  • Provide a clean, safe, injury-free, working environment while ensuring production quality, on-time product delivery, identifying and employing cost-saving measures, and implementation of lean manufacturing methods through proper training of personnel and following up on all delegated tasks.
  • Manage team to meet and exceed quotas developed by Scheduling.
  • Ensure SOPs are followed to meet and exceed Quality Standards set forth in Specifications.
  • Ensure team maintains highest levels of safety to build an environment where the team’s well-being is a top priority.
  • Work cooperatively with other department leaders.
  • Roles and Responsibilities will change to meet the needs of the company.
  • Support Company mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity by incorporating these into the development and implementation of business plans.
  • Own and lead special projects as assigned.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications


Technical Skills Required

  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance at work.
  • Ability to learn how to use the different pieces of equipment used to perform the Pre-Weigh, Compounding and Sanitation activities.
  • Ability to learn and navigate an MRP/ERP system.
  • Ability to think quickly and make decisions while considering all internal and external customer requirements.
  • Organized and analytical.
  • Self-directed and motivated.
  • Collaborative and team oriented.

Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s degree or 5 to 10 years of experience is preferred.
  • Five years of experience managing a large group in a manufacturing environment.

Physical Requirements

  • Lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Requires some walking and standing, as well as sitting for periods of time.
  • Must be able to bend, kneel, squat, and stretch.
  • May be required to ascend and descend ladders and/or stairs.
  • While performing the duties of the job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, loud noises, and vibration.
  • Incumbent is subject to other hazards such as moving mechanical parts, electrical current, chemicals, and heat.
  • Ability to see color.
