Beavercreek City Schools is Hiring a DoD STARBASE Full-time Instructor Near Dayton, OH
STARBASE Wright-Patt is a national hands-on STEM program for local 5 th grade students who attend for a total of 25 hours throughout the school year. The mission or our free academy is to provide hands-on, inquiry based activities for students and teachers alike, who don’t normally have these opportunities and resources readily available in their schools. Full time instructor Pay: disclosed at interview but does not follow the Beavercreek City Schools faculty pay scale. This position reports and works directly with the STARBASE Wright-Patt Executive Director and is funded by the DoD on 6-month contracts, with Beavercreek City Schools acting as our fiscal agent. Instructor Responsibilities Include, But Not Limited To
Provide daily instruction to 5 th grade students using the provided DoD STARBASE curriculum with fidelity, staying up-to-date on STEM content knowledge, using a co-teaching model.
Maintain an assigned, shared classroom, i.e. set up and tear down lessons and inventory lesson materials routinely and consistently, among other duties.
Maintain a fun, but professional, rapport with participating students, classroom teachers, and staff.
Provide instruction for summer camps
Represent STARBASE Wright-Patt and/or the WPAFB Educational Outreach office in various outreach events, such as Sinclair’s TechFest and CJHS’s STEM Hoopla Challenge, which will occur on some evenings and weekends.
Successful Candidates Will Have
A current Ohio teaching license or be able to obtain a substitute license.
