Intelix Systems is Hiring a Civil/Structural Engineer SME (Subject Matter Expert) Near Richland, WA

Job Summary:

  • We are seeking a highly experienced Civil/Structural Engineer SME to act as the Engineering Discipline Lead in the Engineering Programs Group. This role requires extensive expertise in civil/structural engineering, with in-depth knowledge of applicable codes and standards. The selected candidate will provide subject matter expertise, support code compliance, offer design guidance, and conduct technical reviews of new designs and major facility modifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the Engineering Discipline Lead, providing expert guidance in civil/structural engineering.
  • Conduct technical reviews of new designs, major facility modifications, and related technical documents.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain discipline-specific processes, procedures, and standards.
  • Provide authoritative technical recommendations and represent the discipline in TOC projects.
  • Support operations and project delivery by identifying appropriate engineering processes and standards.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with external SMEs and the supply chain to augment in-house expertise.
  • Lead and sponsor discipline-specific process improvement initiatives.
  • Mentor and train less experienced engineers, promoting best practices across the organization.
  • Attend project meetings and ensure high standards for engineering conduct, product quality, and compliance.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum of 12 years of experience in civil/structural engineering.
  • Extensive knowledge of engineering principles, codes, and standards applicable to civil/structural engineering.
  • Ability to make independent decisions on engineering problems and represent the department in key discussions.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE), preferably in the State of Washington.
  • Proficiency in piping and vessel design, including ASME B31 series and ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code.
  • Experience in nuclear safety analysis, water hammer damage prevention, and fluid flow/thermal analysis.
  • Familiarity with piping system analysis software such as AutoPipe.
  • Prior experience with TOC procedures and standards.
  • Experience with Hose-in-Hose Transfer Lines (HIHTL) design, operation, and disposal.

Work Schedule:

  • Standard work schedule: Monday to Thursday, 10-hour shifts between 6:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
  • Non-standard workdays may include holidays, closures due to inclement weather, or any day outside the standard shift.
