OVERVIEW

In conjunction with the Quality Manager/Supervisor, the individual in this role will coordinate performance of scheduled inspections at Receiving, WIP, and Finished Goods Inspection areas. Inspect product quality within the plant, ensuring that product inspections and quality assurance procedures are carried through as defined in the Quality Manual and meet the standards required by our customers and consumers. Make decisions based upon criteria in Quality Procedure Manual. Perform Quality Inspector’s duties as necessary. Perform Quality Supervisor/Manager duties when necessary

All Keeco Associates are expected to support Operations by working efficiently and maintaining a high level of productivity for the organization to meet and exceed customer demands.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Schedule and perform daily random inspections of raw materials in the receiving area, work in process in the production lines, and finished goods in the final inspection areas.
    • Ensure all inspection findings are entered accurately into system for record keeping.
    • Report and review all non-conformance findings with Quality Supervisor/Manager and provide accurate and detailed reports to Corporate.
    • Independently prepare reports via email on items that are found to be non-conforming and/or items found with issues during any stage of production.
    • Work with Quality Supervisor/Manager in the event 100% inspection is needed, to provide staffing. Must be able to communicate and train additional staff for inspection.
    • Contain all non-conforming items and place them in a Quarantine/Hold status. Review all findings and work closely with QA Supervisor/Manager to get a resolution for any issues.
    • Ensure all items in the Quality Hold area are related to a quality issue and report discrepancies to the Quality Manager or Supervisor.
    • Receive and review all items returned for non-conformances. Review with Quality Supervisor or Manager and help determine disposition.
    • Ensure the disposal of any non-conforming materials with direction from Corporate, working closely with the Inventory Supervisor.
    • Report chronic quality control issues to Quality Supervisor/Manager for follow-up with plant management team.
    • Maintain accurate records and communication relating to non-conforming materials and follow up as needed.
    • Ability to perform all Quality Inspector duties and responsibilities during absence of Inspector or as needed.
    • Assist in creating a climate in which employees want to do their best; empowers others; invites input from each person; makes each individual feel his/her work is important; is someone people like working for and with.

    • Ensure that quality standards are met and maintained under all areas of responsibility following the Quality Policy.
    • Make independent decisions on inspections relating to product quality
    • Fill in for the Quality Supervisor/Manager for defined periods of time when necessary
    • Knowledge and training on preparing and distributing Quality Alerts when needed
    • Present technical quality data via conference calls or email when needed.
    • Comply with Safety policy and report any safety issues to Quality Supervisor/Manager and Department Supervisor immediately.
    • Be prepared for short notice assignments related to quality or other projects.
    • Train new team members when necessary.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

REQUIREMENTS, SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be able to make qualified decisions and accept responsibility for decisions made.
  • Experience in quality assurance for production manufacturing is ideal. Experience in the textile environment is preferred.
  • Must be able to perform inspections in all areas of production. 
  • Have good vision and above average or superior color perception. 
  • Must have basic math skills. 
  • Must be able to use a tape measure accurately and follow detail instructions.
  • Knowledge of sewing is a plus. Must be able to identify sewing defects and causes. 
  • Display the need for thoroughness and attention to detail.
  • Have excellent communication skills (verbal and written). Also possess the ability to communicate effectively with plant management and employees.
  •  COMPUTER SKILLS A MUST. Basic to medium knowledge of EXCEL is required.
  • Education: High School or equivalent. 
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) REQUIRED

While performing the duties of this job, the associate spends most of time standing and walking. This position requires mobility and fast-paced motion. Also, frequently required to use hands to finger, grasp, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and maneuver around production equipment throughout the shift. The Associate is occasionally required to balance, stoop and bends regularly to move/lift material or equipment (typically 10 lbs. or less).

The ability to hear and see with vision abilities in close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust and focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Manufacturing / Production Floor: While performing the duties of this job, the Associate may be exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate however there may be areas designated as Hearing Protection required and provided earplugs are mandatory in those areas. 

Not all areas of the plant and warehouse are climate controlled and exposure to heat and/or cold can occur. The Associate is frequently exposed to dust and floating particles used in the manufacturing, storage and inventory of raw materials and finished goods. EEO/Vet Disabled
