Behavioral Health Group - BHG is Hiring a Director of Benefits Near Dallas, TX

Behavioral Health Group (BHG) is the largest network of Joint Commission accredited outpatient opioid treatment and recovery centers, operating approximately 120 locations in 24 states. BHG provides medication-assisted treatment and counseling services in a conventional outpatient setting. We are committed to the belief that addiction is a brain disease, not a moral failing. Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Benefits to join our team. This role will be pivotal in enhancing and managing our comprehensive benefits programs, ensuring they align with BHG’s mission and core values of hope, respect, and caring. Initially, the primary focus will be on benefits, with responsibilities for compensation being incorporated over time. This role will report directly to the Chief People Officer.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the strategic planning, administration, and optimization of health and welfare plans, 401(k) plans, and other employee benefits programs.
  • Partner with benefits brokers and 401(k) consultants to ensure compliance and identify opportunities to enhance benefits offerings and reduce costs.
  • Participate in strategic sessions on benefits plan design, benefits plan performance, process improvements, and enhancing the employee value proposition.
  • Develop and communicate benefits information to employees, including eligibility procedures, government-mandated disclosures, and program enhancements.
  • Oversee the open enrollment process, including communication strategies, technology configuration, post-enrollment audits, and issue resolution.
  • Manage the 401(k) provider and partner with consultants to review investment options and fulfill fiduciary responsibilities.
  • Administer all leaves of absence and disability claims in compliance with state, federal, and local laws (FMLA, workers’ compensation, ADA, etc.).
  • Manage requests for accommodations, ensuring compliance with ADA and ADAAA as well as internal policies.
  • Ensure compliance with ACA, Prescription Drug Data Collection submission, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee the tuition reimbursement program.
  • Lead the benefits enrollment process for new hires and manage qualifying life events for current employees.
  • Exhibit leadership and management skills to maintain a high-performing team.
  • Develop and implement total reward strategies that align with BHG’s Mission and Core Values.
  • Prepare for future responsibilities related to compensation, including compensation philosophy, job grading, market analysis, and incentive programs.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of employee benefits, including self-funded plans and 401(k) administration.
  • Experience in compensation design and administration is a plus.
  • Strong background in managing leaves of absence, ADA, FMLA, workers’ compensation, COBRA, HIPAA, etc.
  • Excellent customer service focus with a sense of urgency and commitment to supporting team members.
  • Strong business acumen and ability to work cross-functionally.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical subjects to stakeholders.
  • Adaptable to changing conditions and experienced in leveraging emerging technologies.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to synthesize complex information.
  • Proficiency in Excel.
  • Proven leadership and management skills to inspire and motivate high-performing teams.
