Behavioral Health Response is Hiring a Crisis Police Response Clinician (CPR-C) Near St Louis, MO

The Crisis Police Response Clinician partners with law enforcement to respond directly to 911 and other police dispatch calls related to individuals experiencing a behavioral health crisis. Working together with a St. Louis Police Officer, the CPRC will provide effective crisis intervention services, including assessment and referral services, behavioral health education and support, brief solution-focused treatment, de-escalation, psychological first aid, and follow-up services.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Ride with a St. Louis Police Officer(s) to respond to 911 calls and/or community encounters with individuals experiencing a behavioral health crisis.
  • Respond to calls from BHR Contact Center for 911 diversion needs when law enforcement response is not required or is already on scene.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with law enforcement and other community stakeholders.
  • Perform high quality clinical triage assessments. Develop individualized, comprehensive treatment plan to assist client in establishing necessary mental health services, including provisional diagnosis and thorough suicide risk assessment.
  • Complete all necessary documentation accurately and efficiently.

Education, Experience and Skills Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in social work, criminal justice, psychology, or a related field.
  • Working knowledge of the St. Louis Area Mental Health Network, the Crisis Intervention Model, and the DSM-V.
  • Minimum of six months experience in mental health field within the private or public sector.
  • Ability to write clinical documentation, conduct mental health assessments and develop client treatment plans.
  • Possess a client centered and community focused approach consistent with behavioral health professional’s ethics and principles.
  • Must be flexible with work hours and available to work at least 1 weekend day. Work weeks are Tuesday-Saturday or Sunday-Thursday.
  • Valid driver's license (MO Class E or state equivalent). Motor Vehicle Record check will be conducted prior to start date.
  • Willingness to meet any/all regulatory requirements of our partners, including vaccinations and background checks.

Work Environment:

  • Requires riding in / driving a car for extended periods of time.
  • Hybrid position with the majority of the time spent in the field, throughout the St. Louis area, at a variety of settings, including hospitals, clinics, community centers, and other locations where individuals in crisis may be present.
  • At times, the work environment can be high-stress and include potentially dangerous situations.
