Responsibilities:
- Practice safe working habits and follow safety policy, procedures, and Job Safety Analysis (JSA)
- Support, educate and continually improve best Safety practices
- Emphasize and train the importance of Safety with actions and communications
- Ability to work towards continuous improvement of product quality and ISO-9001 Standards
- Build on the “Good Iron” reputation and find opportunities to go to the next level of quality
- Partner with business unit leadership and production departments to improve product, reduce costs and increase manufacturing throughputs with industries best practices and innovation
- Continually drive for industry leading customer service.
- Develop / implement business unit objectives that achieve productivity improvements through education, variable pay tools and positive motivation
- Actively engaged and supportive in Continuous Improvement programs utilizing LEAN and 6 Sigma principles.
- Position manufacturing to ship at forecasted business levels, complete and on-time, in the most efficient manner.
- Understand, track, and manage equipment throughput / cycle times to meet established capacities.
- Establish a capacity utilization matrix that identifies departmental growth opportunities.
- Support capital projects to be completed on time and on budget
- Work with team leaders/teams to achieve strong “actively engaged” Partners in Progress utilizing the Behlen Global Values.
- Encourage and support the growth and success of all Partners in Progress.
- Understand competitors and develop strategies that allow Behlen Building Systems to stay on the leading edge of industry performance and metrics
- Successfully collaborate with peers to facilitate effective plant wide communication and sharing of resources.
- 5 - 10 Years steel manufacturing experience preferred.
- College degree in Business/Engineering or related field or equivalent work experience preferred.
- Proven ability to work with and build teams.
- Strong written and communication skills.
- Bilingual skills a plus.
- Knowledge in the use of computers and manufacturing planning tools.
- A sense of urgency to achieve success with strong motivated teams.
- Ability to work, communicate, and exchange ideas with other teams and leaders.
- Ability to read and understand financial information and make positive improvement.
