Job Description:
The Phased Array Test Engineering Tech will work closely with cross-functional engineering, test, quality and operations teams on both first-article hardware development and production hardware integration processes. This role mainly focuses on testing Kuiper Phased Array Antennas in a production environment. This position requires skill and experience in a variety of areas, including mechanical assembly, avionics integration, electrical checkouts and environmental testing. In short, you will be responsible for a majority of the most critical tasks to build the Kuiper satellite, ensuring high quality, workmanship and safety standards are adhered to on a daily basis.
Key job responsibilities
- Functional testing, repair and troubleshooting of Kuiper phased array antenna PCBA's and electro-mechanical assemblies during environmental testing
- Use electronic test and measurement equipment - multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, microscopes, programming tools
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation, including PCBA schematics and layouts
- Perform work according to procedures, specifications, and test instructions
- Use computer software programs for controlling tests
- Check and inspect your work after completion to ensure engineering and quality standards are met per the drawing and work instruction requirements
- Collaborate with manufacturing and test engineers to develop and document activities, including continuous improvement opportunities
- Collaborate with design engineers to document failure modes, troubleshooting steps, failure reproduction steps
- Perform other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring an efficient, safe and effective work environment
Basic Qualifications:
- Engineering degree (electrical, mechanical, computer, aerospace, etc)
- 2 years of experience in electrical hardware assembly, test, and/or installation
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience in the aerospace industry, automotive industry, medical device industry, aviation, military or other high-reliability operating environment
- Experience in a fast-paced production environment
- Experience programming and/or reading code, specifically Python and Powershell
- Experience with schematic capture and layout software
- Experience working with FOD, ESD sensitive hardware and clean room requirements
- Experience with Linux environments
- Experience with manually testing PCBAs
- A demonstrated ability in reading/understanding technical drawings, work instructions and standard operating procedures
- Some basic knowledge of electrical, optical and mechanical systems, antennas, functional testing and/or satellite components
- Ability to use multiple types of precision measuring instruments
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Ability to rapidly change roles/responsibilities while working in a high-paced, challenging work environment
