Bellevue School District is Hiring a SPECIAL EDUCATION EARLY LEARNING PROGRAM COORDINATOR Near Bellevue, WA

Essential FunctionsDuties and responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:
  • Support and advocate for inclusion of students in their neighborhood schools as they transition to Kindergarten.
  • Assist teachers with IEPs and BIPs, student placement and transition to Kindergarten
  • Support development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Create and write initial IEPs as preschool students qualify for special education services.
  • Ensure preschool IEP compliance.
  • Provide ongoing support and communication with parents of students in the program (Including family night).
  • Member of the Childfind and Part C-Part B Teams
  • Assist with processing new student intakes.
  • Active member of the Early Learning Leadership Team and Special Education Leadership Team.
  • Attend staff meetings as needed.
  • Coordinate student transportation with transportation department.
  • Coordinate and communicate with staff in planning for program development and in-service.
  • Coordinate and communicate with central office staff regarding program issues.
  • Assists the Early Learning Leadership Team with scheduling of Special Needs Assistants.
  • Support school administration and act as Admin Designee when needed and/or appropriate.
  • Coordinate budgeting issues with Special Education Director
  • Assist with enrollment and placement of preschool students with the Early Learning Leadership Team in coordination with the Special Education Director overseeing preschool and building admin.
  • Other duties assigned.
Professional QualificationsPossess or qualify for immediate issuance of a valid Washington State teaching certificate with a special education endorsement and transition services, or Education Staff Associate (ESA) certificate.
Knowledge of: federal and state rules, regulations, and District policies related to special education; issues, trends, and theory practices in the area of early childhood special education; or experience as a member of a multi-disciplinary and IEP team; behavior management strategies and behavior plans.
Skills in: strong organization; working with a diverse student population; such as students with developmental delay, autism, etc. teaming and consensus decision-making for individual student and staff growth.
Ability to: communicate clearly with student and adults; work with other members of a school or department to accomplish common goals; to process paperwork related to conducting evaluations and transitions and writing IEPs; train others in the use of assistive technology.
Physical RequirementsPositions in this class typically require: stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.
Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time.
Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, odors, chemicals, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, workspace restrictions, and intense noises.
Conditions Of Employment$ 69,816 to $ 130,960 annual salary (based on the negotiated collective bargaining agreement salary schedule). Certificated staff work the school year contract with placement on the District and BEA bargaining agreement salary schedule. Placement on the schedule is determined by training and experience.
Medical, dental, vision, long-term disability, and life-insurance eligibility is based upon .45 FTE. Retirement provided through Washington State Department of Retirement Systems.
