Primary Function: The full-time administrative course director supports the College of Science & Technology faculty and adjunct faculty in delivering an innovative learning environment using the University’s delivery models within the assigned Foundational Technology courses not in a program of study. The role primarily manages, schedules, and evaluates adjunct faculty and assists faculty who deliver the established curricula. The incumbent ensures the assigned adjunct faculty provides meaningful interactions with students that promote student engagement, connect student learning to career goals, provide students with available resources and interventions, or refer students accordingly while embodying Bellevue University’s mission. 

Job Overview: 

  • The position will focus on general education technology and related foundational courses, both in-class and online, and is best filled by a highly engaged person with a strong desire to work with a diverse student population consisting of first-generation, non-traditional, and traditional students who are new to college and faculty and adjuncts that instruct in those courses.
  • Essential Functions:
  • Manages short-term and long-term (up to 4 years) scheduling of all assigned program/course sections. 
  • Manage master adjunct listing, qualification record renewals, availability, preferences, teaching assignments, and scheduling. 
  • Coordinate with academic scheduling, advising, enrollment, and financial aid teams to strategically manage forecasted demands for course sections to meet all undergraduate students' needs. 
  • Oversee term-over-term adjunct faculty workload limits and fair assignments throughout program/course adjunct faculty pool. 
  • Create proposed staffing reports for upcoming program/course section starts (typically working 3-6 months in advance) to ensure all future scheduled sections are staffed. 
  • Create and manage an ongoing future-needs assessment throughout the academic year to ensure adjunct hiring is done efficiently and effectively to cover all sections. 
  • Communicate with adjunct faculty about upcoming section starts, section availability, teaching modality preferences, and future opportunities to compile schedules and secure teaching confirmations. 
  • Serve as point of contact for adjunct questions about scheduling, course offerings, general inquiries, curriculum, and technical issues.
  • Uses available instruction data sources (student evaluations, dashboards, surveys, and so on) to coach adjuncts in the approaches necessary to create higher levels of student engagement in partnership with full-time faculty. 
  • Partners with assigned program/course full-time faculty to ensure consistent teaching practices and policies are being upheld as the program/course was designed. 
  • Ensures adjunct instructors teaching in their program/course(s) meet university/college performance expectations. 
  • Partners with full-time faculty to routinely meet with each adjunct to define expectations for student engagement and faculty presence in course delivery. Meetings may be conducted physically, telephonically, via videoconference, email, or any combination.
  • Manages and addresses underperforming adjunct faculty. 
  • Streamlines and improves reports, systems, and processes to ensure continuous quality improvement. 
  • Adheres to established University policies and procedures. 
  • Completes all required training and development activities relevant to regulations and University practices. 
  • Attends University professional development events, as agreed to with the dean. 
  • Attends College, All-Faculty, and All-Campus meetings, as agreed to with the dean. 
  • Demonstrates effective judgment and professional integrity following higher education standards. 
  • Completes special projects as assigned by President.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by their dean. 

Education: Master’s Degree required. 

Qualifications 

  • Strong problem-solving skills, detail-oriented, and excellent organizational, planning, and follow-through skills. 
  • Flexible to meet changing priorities to achieve business objectives. 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. 
  • Strong customer service orientation with the ability to interact warmly and professionally with students, faculty, and staff. 
  • Organization/project management experience preferred 
  • Proven management/supervisory experience. 
  • Demonstrated work experience within education or with adult learners. 

Computer Skills: Demonstrated expertise using Microsoft Office 365 applications. Other experience with various software applications, including but not limited to Outlook, TEAMS, Oracle/PeopleSoft, Blackboard, Salesforce, and databases.
