Position Summary:
Under supervision of the Director of Nursing, implements the Children with Medical Handicaps program according to ODH guidelines; participates in required annual staff trainings; participates in preparedness training and drills and performs other duties as appropriate.
Essential Duties:
85-95% Implement the Children with Medical Handicap program
5% Preparedness activities
10% Other duties as assigned
Non-Essential Duties
In the event of an emergency, this position will participate in response activities.
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum Associate’s Degree or Diploma in Nursing, BSN preferred
Key Competencies:
This position is aligned with the Quad Council Competencies for Public Health Nurses (2011). The Quad council is comprised of the following four entities, The Association of Community Health Educators (ACHNE), The Association of State and Territorial Directors of Nursing (ASTDN), The American Public Health Association – Public Health Nursing Section (APHA) and The American Nurse Association’s Congress on Nursing Practice and Economics (ANA).

General office setting in the Health Department, as well as community sites.
Work performed in the community is sometimes subject to conditions that range from inclement weather to dangerous conditions such as snow/ice, cold, heat, noise, wetness/humidity, vibration, sudden temperature changes, and poor illumination at the job site or due to travel on the job. Travel to and from WIC or other locations may subject worker to increased risk of driving hazards. Community locations may subject worker to communicable diseases, insects and other disease vectors, toxins, hazardous materials, chemicals and animals.
In all settings, employees in this classification may occasionally need to relate to members of the public who exhibit challenging, atypical or hostile behaviors and/or communication.
Due to the need for all Health Department personnel to respond to public health emergencies, the employee must be assessed for his/her ability to meet the physical demands of performing the following activities:
