Receiving Associate I

We are currently recruiting for a Receiving Associate I to join the Benchmade Knife Company team. The Receiving Associate I is responsible for verifying counts of incoming and outgoing materials, receiving purchase orders, distributing product and paperwork to required departments, and moving parts to appropriate work centers. This role requires a high attention to detail and strong team player.

Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities:

  • Receives and unloads incoming materials and compares information on packing slip with purchase order to verify accuracy of shipment
  • Inspects shipments for damages or defects; records discrepancies or damages and notifies supervisor and/or purchasing personnel.
  • Distributes product and paperwork to the required departments
  • Moves parts to appropriate work centers and building
  • Maintains inventory by identifying, labeling, and placing materials and supplies in stock; recording location of inventory.
  • Operate lift trucks, pallet jacks, and other equipment to safely move parts to proper locations
  • Maintains material-handling equipment by completing pre-use inspections; making operator repairs.
  • Verifies counts of outgoing materials for sub-contractor operations.
  • Dispatches courier servicers to deliver/pick-up parts
  • Work with accounting/procurement to fix receiving errors
  • Collaborate with procurement staff to list expected deliveries
  • Participates in improvement projects to continuously raise performance within the function
  • Support the on-going reporting of key performance metrics
  • Executes housekeeping duties.
  • Provides excellent service to customers

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • A High School Diploma or GED equivalent, and 3-4 years of shipping, receiving, or warehouse experience in a manufacturing environment is required. Equivalency to the qualification standard will also be considered.
  • Forklift certification preferred
  • Basic understanding of inventory controls and cycle counting
  • Strong computer skills
  • Familiarity with MRP systems and performing inventory transactions
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, with co-workers and vendors.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Must demonstrate good attendance and punctuality.
  • Quality-conscious individual with excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to multi-task accurately
  • Works well in a collaborative and positive team environment
  • Demonstrate great attendance and punctuality.
  • Able to work in a manufacturing environment (exposure to noise, coolants, abrasives, heat, cold, adhesives, and automated and manual machinery) wearing required PPE (safety glasses, safety toed shoes, and Kevlar gloves.)
