Benchmark Behavioral Health is Hiring a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (TRS) Near Woods Cross, UT

Benchmark Behavioral Health has one full-time Therapeutic Recreation Therapist (TRS) position with a flexible schedule, amazing benefits and seasoned supportive staff.

  • $20.00 to $25.00 per hour depending on experience, license & education
  • Additional pay of $2.00 to $4.00 per hour if you work after 2:00pm Monday thru Thursday or $4.00 for weekends
  • Work Location: 592 West 1350 South, Woods Cross

Benchmark Behavioral Health Systems believes that therapeutic recreation has a unique role in the psychological and behavioral improvement of the adolescents we treat.

Our therapeutic recreation staff use individual and group therapy, play, recreation and other activity based interventions to maximize our patient's functioning and promote quality of life.

If you have a strong interest in providing quality therapeutic recreation to adolescent boys who have experienced severe personal trauma, this is the job for you.

You will be given the autonomy to develop and create a wide range of modalities and facilitation techniques. You will also be working with an awesome team of multidisciplinary professionals that you can rely on to assist you in coordinating a solid foundation of quality care and mental health treatment.

Your role & responsibilities:

  • Planning and implementing recreation therapy groups and activities
  • Planning and implementing three, two-hour community integration outings weekly with the possibility of extra adventure programming
  • Complete intake assessments and set therapeutic recreation goals
  • Complete daily progress notes and other documentation
  • Attend monthly department and facility wide meetings
  • Provide crisis de-escalation for residents that may require physical restraints

Applicants must have a TRS certification through the State of Utah OR National certification (CTRS) and a valid driver license.

  • Prefer 2 years of experience working with adolescents who have behavioral and/or mental health issues.
  • Thorough understanding of therapeutic activities for varying developmental ranges and be capable of working independently.
  • Experience with organizing indoor/outdoor and on/off campus activities
  • Must be able to pass a background check and pre-hire drug screen and be at least 21 years of age.
