Benchmark Electronics is Hiring an Intern - Manufacturing Engineer Near Tempe, AZ

Summary:

Manufacturing/Process Engineering Internship with emphasis on precision assembly process for a new product. This opportunity is temporary employment for engineering or robotics students who are seeking an internship in a manufacturing facility. This is a paid internship for 40 hours (except holidays) and begins in May/June 2024 and continues onto the fall and spring semesters. This internship is located in Tempe, AZ and will require 100% on site attendance.

Focus on manufacturing and documentation of process for customer product, resulting in a product that supports the manufacturing environment, if applicable, to meet both the customers' requirements and the internal manufacturing requirements.

The ideal candidate would be a self-motivated engineering student who is ready for a challenging internship in a fast-paced, electronics manufacturing environment.

Skills Required:

  • Interpret and follow engineering drawings and technical documents
  • Analyze complex instructions to assess for flaws/clarity
  • Utilize hand/power and precision assembly tools

Essential Functions:

  • Assist in the assembly of prototypes
  • Participate in implementation of customer design requirements
  • Aid in development of manufacturing processes for New Product Introduction (NPI)
  • Aid in development and execution of product build instructions
  • Collaborate with engineering peers on early prototype manufacturing
  • Collaborate with engineering peers on Design for Manufacturability (DFM) reviews for design enhancement
  • Verify completed work, checking dimensions, materials to be used and quantities per the verification plan
This job position may include access to controlled information or technology covered under applicable U.S. export control laws. As such, employment for this job position may be contingent on either verification that an applicant falls under the definition of a "U.S. Person" (which includes U.S. citizens, U.S. lawful permanent residents, and those granted U.S. asylum or refugee status) or on the Company timely obtaining any necessary export license required under federal laws. Education: Ideally pursuing degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or other relevant engineering majors.
