Benedictine is Hiring a Group Home Manager Near Ridgely, MD

Summary:

Under general direction of the Residential Director, the Group Home Manager will coordinate the residential Direct Support Professionals and home management responsibilities necessary to assist adults supported by Benedictine in to achieve their goals, established according to preferences, abilities and choices, in their Individual Plans ("IP"). They will take a leadership and supervisory role in all aspects of the residential sites assigned to them and other duties listed below. The position of Group Home Manager will strive to achieve the mission of Benedictine and operate in an ethical manner that always focuses on quality of life and the health, safety and well-being of the men and women that we serve

Need more details? Here are the primary duties and responsibilities:

  • Consistently report to work on time as scheduled, prepared to perform assigned duties and responsibilities during entire schedule work period/shift.
  • Meet with each individual, family and their Program Coordinator if requested, prior to Individual Plan meeting to assess and make recommendations for the individual's goals and desires for community living and leisure for the future.
  • Attend each individual's IP meeting to work with team member chosen to help him/her achieve future success.
  • Work with individual and staff to achieve residential and community living goals established in the IP.
  • Ensure residential staff in assigned homes document progress toward IP goals and other relevant information accurately and in a timely manner in Therap.
  • Spend time in assigned homes to monitor progress, resolve problems and maintain effective relationships daily or as needed. Work alongside Direct Support Professionals in each home at least monthly.
  • If needed incorporate and follow behavior protocol for each individual as it fits into his/her plan.
  • Supervise full and part time Direct Support Professionals for assigned homes;
    • Participate in the hiring of new staff including interviewing and completing 90 day reviews.
    • Support staff to complete initial and annual required and elective training.
    • Role model appropriate professional behaviors and staff interactions and relationships.
    • Take a lead role in scheduling of staff for assigned homes according to scheduling protocol.
    • Evaluate staff performance annually.
    • Discipline and develop corrective action plans for staff when necessary.
    • Make termination of staff decisions and complete the process as needed.
  • Perform home maintenance checks to include room inspections. Coordinate routine and emergency house maintenance needs.
  • Communicate with families as necessary to coordinate visits and ongoing connections/relationships with the people living in assigned homes.
  • Assist with transportation to routine medical appointments. Communicate with RN-Case Manager about health status and any follow-up required, including ordering medication refills.
  • Coordinate meal planning and grocery shopping with people supported and Direct Support Staff.
  • Manage household finances and individual accounts as needed pending training of lead house counselors.
  • Responsible for documenting or ensuring the completion of documentation of food logs, monthly recreational form, fire drills, attendance reports, medication charts.

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience in direct support with people with disabilities.
  • Some supervisor or administrative experience preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills; good organization skills; able to work independently with good problem solving skills.
  • Must present professional manner at all times with individuals, families and colleagues.
  • Must past initial and ongoing position-related trainings.
  • Must be a minimum of 18 years old.
  • Must be able to provide proof of eligibility to work in US upon offer.
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screen.
  • Must pass pre-employment criminal background checks through CJIS as stated in Family Law Article 5-561, and pass pre-employment CPS check.
  • Must have current and valid driver's license in good standing and must have a driving record that would permit coverage under Benedictine driver's insurance.
  • (If applicable) If position required use of personal vehicle for transportation service, must be able to sue personal vehicle in the execution of job duties, and provide required insurance documentation of personal vehicle.
