Benesch is proud to announce the opening for a Senior Accountant in our Cleveland office. This position is hybrid and has work from home flexibility.
Position Summary:
Are you looking for a new challenge wherein you can step into a newly created position and carve out your own niche? Do you have experience with partnership accounting and would like to stay focused in that practice area? Then our newly created Senior Accountant position may be the role for you. This position is perfect for the accountant who has defined experience with partner compensation, draws and partnership distribution calculations. Join Benesch and play a pivotal role in shaping the financial success of our organization.
The Senior Accountant assists the Director of Finance in the operation and maintenance of the general ledger, prepares financial reports, oversees Firm cash activity, reconciles bank accounts for all offices and assists with special projects as needed. As Partnership Accountant at Benesch, you will be an integral member of our team as we strive to provide our customers with the best possible service.
Essential Functions:
1. Coordinates partner compensation, draws and partnership distribution calculations.
2. Assists with partner withdrawals and retirement calculations.
3. Assists with partner capital projections and analyses.
4. Prepares quarterly tax estimates and payments.
5. Coordinates tax workpaper preparation with external tax accountants.
6. Prepares annual income and capital workpapers for tax returns.
7. Ensures compliance with firm policies and internal accounting controls.
8. Assists with month and year end close process.
9. Prepares audit schedules for annual review by outside auditors.
10. Reconciles partners' draw and capital accounts monthly.
11. Prepares adjusting journal entries as needed.
12. Works to standardize and improve financial processes.
13. Performs other duties and projects as assigned.

Qualifications:
The Senior Accountant must have an accounting degree from an accredited university. A minimum of five (5) years of accounting experience is required in addition to a minimum of 2 years of public accounting required. Experience with preparation of financial statements, tax returns and financial analysis is required. Experience with partnership accounting preferred. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint. Excellent customer service skill, ability to work independently but also part of a broader team are musts.
