Staff Accountant (Construction - 5 Years Experience)

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Accountant to join our dynamic team at Benjamin Marcus Homes. Reporting to the Director of Operations, this position is the primary member of our finance department, you will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate financial reporting.

Responsibilities:

• Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP standards. Provide insights into financial performance and variances to budget.
• Accounts Payable and Receivables.
• Monthly bank reconciliations and loan management.
• Customer/vendor interface regarding payments and invoicing.
• Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with other operations, to support business initiatives and address financial-related inquiries.
• Daily management of cash reporting and reconciliation.
• Creation and maintenance of general ledger accounts, journal entries
• Balance Sheet reconciliations.
• Check creation (mostly automated).
• Assist with Payroll and Benefits administration.

· Subcontractor Worker’s Compensation & General Liability insurance tracking

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
• Minimum of 3-4 years of experience in accounting.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP.
• Experience with purchase orders and variance purchase orders, preferably in the construction industry.
• Proficiency in accounting software, Quickbooks preferred, and Microsoft Excel.
• Experience in year end tax closeout, 1099 distribution, and administrative items involved in the tax process
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
