    Qualifications: Previous experience in a similar position. Current Illinois Professional Educator License with Administrative Endorsement. Spanish speaking, preferred. Special education, EL and Bilingual experience, a plus.
    Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
    The Assistant Principal of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment is responsible for leading the assigned Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) towards mastery of teaching standards, skills, and analysis of data to promote an effective learning environment. The Assistant Principal of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment will provide day-to-day oversight for the implementation of curriculum, instruction, and assessments within the content areas consistent with the policies of the Board of Education. The Middle School Assistant Principal of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment shall assume such other duties and responsibilities as outlined in this job description:
    1. Assist in the general supervision and evaluations of staff. This would include hiring, training, scheduling, managing, and conducting annual evaluations for certified and classified staff.
    2. Coordinate and lead collaborative efforts to develop and implement curriculum that is rigorous, motivating, relevant, delivered and used with integrity and fidelity.
    3. Analyze trend data and work with PLC teams to inform curriculum and instruction decisions in order to deliver positive outcomes and cultivate a safe and secure learning environment.
    4. Assist the MTSS Coordinator in establishing and implementing tiered intervention processes and procedures with teams based on students’ needs.
    5. Work collaboratively with the Assistant Superintendent of Teaching & Learning to implement curriculum pilots, collect data, and make curricular decisions.
    6. Support staff during PLC and staff meetings through active observation, conversation, and feedback. Work with coaches to support new and veteran teachers who need extra support with curriculum, delivery of instruction and specific teaching strategies as needed.
    7. Work with the Principal and the other Assistant Principal in the organization on scheduling and day to day operations of the building as it relates to active supervision, safety, and maintaining a positive learning environment.
    8. Oversee state testing practices and implementation, develop testing schedules, and analyze the assessment results of these tests for the middle school in order to continue to improve classroom instruction and student progress.
    9. Research and collaborate with coaches and Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning regarding instructional strategies and resources for ongoing professional development, teacher growth, and effective classroom management in order to meet the needs of all students and the goals of the district/building strategic improvement plans.
    10. Meet regularly with the Principal to inform him/her on observations and activities relative to curriculum, instruction, and assessment.
    11. Perform additional duties as determined by the Principal and/or district office.
