THE OPPORTUNITY
The Benton Community Foundation (BCF) is seeking a part-time (20 hours per week) Scholarship Coordinator to coordinate the Foundation’s scholarship programs and provide confidential administrative support to the Director of Grants and Programs. This position helps further BCF’s commitment to provide excellent service to grant applicants, educational partners, volunteers, donors, the Board, and the community at large. An ideal candidate for this position must possess a heightened attention to detail, excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to analyze data to produce reports and/or provide presentations. Candidates should be thoughtful, compassionate, and trustworthy.
POSTION SUMMARY
The Benton Community Foundation Scholarship Coordinator implements BCF’s scholarship program by conducting all administrative aspects of the scholarship cycle including but not limited to: disseminate scholarship program information, receive, review, distribute, and track applications; support scholarship/grant committee members; and provide community presentations. This position also provides operational and administrative support to the Director of Grants Programs with tasks including but not limited to: providing administrative support, assisting in document review and supporting connectivity between partners and Foundation leadership.
This position is central to effectively distribute grants and provide administrative support that streamlines community connectivity at BCF. This role requires adherence to tight deadlines, high-quality standards, tolerance of moderate disruption and the ability to collaborate with others while learning.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Maintain web portal containing scholarship funds, applications, recipients; key resource people and organizations; funding history and other information as appropriate and necessary to granting cycles.
• Provide support to the Director of Grants and Programs and the Grants Committee, by scheduling/attending meetings; record and distribute meetings minutes; maintain committee policies, departmental documentation, calendars, and assist with meeting agendas.
• Develop in-depth knowledge of any donor restrictions contained in the foundation’s Community Grant and Scholarship Fund Group and ensure that grant awards comply with said restrictions.
• Develop, maintain, distribute, and post to electronic media as appropriate any and all applications, instructions and other publications pertaining to grant cycles.
• Coordinate volunteers for scholarship review and award ceremonies. Provide clear communication and training.
• Represent BCF professionally by responding to inquiries and attending meetings and conferences pertaining to grant making.
• Support all activities of the Director of Grants and Programs.
• Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree preferred and/or three (3) years of experience and/or training in customer service and data management.
• Proven track record of building and maintaining long-term relationships.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
· Ability to understand and implement best practices, regulations, and BCF’s policies in the field of grant making.
PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS
This position requires the ability to work efficiently and pleasantly with a wide variety of internal and external customers. As a representative of BCF, a high level of positive diplomacy and tact are required in providing service to internal and external stakeholders. Communications are regularly confidential in nature, requiring the employee to use discretion while communicating information clearly and concisely.

PERFORMANCE INDICATORS
The duties and responsibilities presented in this position description will be used as some of the measuring tools in the employee’s annual performance evaluation. The Director of Grants and Programs will perform a performance evaluation upon the completion of the employee’s first six (6) full months of work. The next performance evaluation shall be scheduled upon completion of the employee’s first twelve (12) full months of work and annually thereafter.
HOURS AND COMPENSATION
This position is part-time non-exempt. The employee will work no more than 1,040 hours per annum (.50 fte); however, specific hours to be worked each week shall vary as determined by the timing of the scholarship cycles. Compensation is commensurate with experience. Benefits include generous paid time off, retirement plan, and organizational value of work/life balance with flexibility. A successful candidate must be bondable; any job offer will be subject to a background check.
