Berea College is Hiring a Communications and Programming Coordinator (SAL 7) Near Berea, KY

Summary:The Communications & Programming Coordinator will manage student and internal office communications, serve as the Navigate Berea Administrator providing support and training as needed, maintain SST website, provide tech support, monitor data entry related to records and files, schedule meetings, and coordinate programming support for the Office of Student Success and Transition.
Minimum Qualifications Required:Education required to ensure success in this position:Bachelor’s Degree in Communication, Education, or related field required
Experience required to ensure success in this position:Experience working in a higher education setting as a student or full-time employee is preferred.
Special skills, knowledge and abilities:Excellent oral/written communication and superior interpersonal skills with the ability to operate in a team setting.
Strong organizational skills and capacity to set priorities. Attention to detail.
Ability to make decisions autonomously and work independently while managing programs and events.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Deep and genuine commitment to work directly with students.
Ability to work effectively with faculty and staff from across the institution with an understanding of the perceptions and
needs of these areas.
License, certification, or registration necessary:Valid driver’s license

Physical requirements:Ability to navigate campus/public buildings and grounds
Ability to travel independently by car and/or plane
Ability to occasionally lift up to 20 lbs.
Environmental conditions:Professional office environment with interruptions and noise due to frequent visitors, students, staff and faculty
Occasional travel required for meetings, conferences, etc.
Ability to operate the following vehicles or equipment:Standard office equipment: computer, fax, phone, etc.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Regular and predictable attendance is essential. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Serves as the EAB Navigate Berea application administrator. Providing access, training, and technical assistance to users. Manages the Navigate App content and oversees the progress report, data collection, and assessment. Guides the campus in the continued rollout of additional features in Navigate as they are released.
Coordinates and manages all student success and post-deposit communications for students and families
Organizes Dean’s list, ad hoc academic & tech communication, and utilizes Argos, Banner, Canva and mail merge,
Train and supervise student workers in Student Success and Transition
Manage events of Office of Student Success & Transition activities, including Summer Connections, orientation and transition events, Emerging Scholars, Berea Bridge, intervention programs, and other student success initiatives.
Coordinate communications with internal and external constituents, answering questions and directing individuals to the appropriate resources. This includes management of walk-in, phone, email, Microsoft teams, zoom, and social media traffic.
Assist Associate Director and other SST team members by participating on project teams.
Coordinate office calendars and management of scheduling events and appointments.
Develop content and training materials (electronic and paper) and other program materials for SST Office website, and general maintenance. Work with SST staff to optimize SST Office website for programing purposes.
In support of Berea College’s great commitments this position requires student supervision. The fourth great commitment is to promote learning and serving in community through the student labor program, honoring the dignity and utility of all work, mental and manual, and taking pride in work well done. The Supervision would include scheduling, assigning and approving work performed. Developing students about common workplace acumen and giving them tangible work experience is an expected outcome.
