SUMMARY

Position will be based at March Air Reserve Base (ARB) near Riverside, California. The project is the installation of a new gas distribution system at March ARB, approximately 9 miles of various size piping and 65 plus meters are to be installed.This position performs safety oversight for the job site. Training in OSHA requirements (OSHA 30) and certification required. Will be assisting with enforcing safety programs, and other duties as assigned. Manages, monitors, and advises Project and Field Site Managers on all matters related to the Health and Safety of personnel and issues affecting/ impacting the project.
Responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Essential Duties and Responsibilities are intended to present a descriptive list of the range of duties performed for this position, and are
not intended to reflect all duties performed within the job. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Provide daily site safety assessments and training for specific contractor activities (ie trenching, elevated work etc).
  • Review safety procedures and processes with team members onsite (Activity Hazard Analysis)
  • Review and assess contractor and Subcontractor(s) safety plans and activity hazard analysis (AHA) for project
  • Project has certain tasks that may require a substantial safety presence
  • Attend meetings as required
  • Assist with writing/reviewing/submitting safety documents for approval
  • Ensure regulatory compliance (i.e. OSHA, EM385 1-1, NFPA, ATSSA, ANSI) at the jobsite level
Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS - EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION

Required (Minimum) Qualifications
  • EM385 1-1 40 hour Certification (can be obtained after employment)
  • At least five (5) years of continuous industry safety experience in supervising/managing (safety programs, processes or conducting hazard analyses and developing controls).
  • If the candidate has a third party, nationally accredited safety, and occupational health related certification, the ten (10) years experience will be re-evaluated based on the certifications.
  • Experience in vertical, flat, underground and heavy construction
  • Ablity to obtain Airbase Security Pass
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics
  • Familiarity with the Microsoft Suite
  • Current favorable National Agency Check with Inquiry (NACI), in accordance with AR 380-67
  • Valid Driver’s License

Preferred
  • Training in weapons handling, fire safety, health, security, sanitation inspections
  • CPR/1st Aid/AED certification
  • Familiarity with military rank and structure
  • Familiarity with heavy construction and earth moving operation preferred

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work Environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be borne by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
The employee will work in a temperature-controlled office environment, as well as on construction job sites. Job sites may be outdoors, or indoors. During visits to construction job sites, the individual may be exposed to: extreme cold or hot weather conditions, hazardous noise, fall hazards, heights in excess of 10 feet, confined spaces, excavations, live traffic, fumes, or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, hazardous materials, unexploded ordinance, and dimly lit areas.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Supervisory responsibilities will be in the review of currently established practices, with an emphasis of ways to keep team members safe while performing a range of activities.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFYING FACTORS
As a condition of employment, may be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening, as well as have acceptable reference and background check results to obtain access to military base. Must have reliable transportation to/from work a necessity and must be able to obtain access to military installations.
