ResponsibilitiesThe Equine Underwriter provides technical and authoritative support, as well as effective management, for all underwriting/administrative initiatives in the accomplishment of the corporation’s financial, strategic and business plan objectives as respects to the Equine/Cattle Program. Key functions include but are not limited to:
  • Manage a book of equine and livestock mortality business
  • Responsible for the growth of that book to meet the goals and objectives of the business unit
  • Achieve terms, conditions and pricing that meet company profit objectives
  • Achieve loss ratio and production goals and deliver exceptional services in a timely manner
  • Collaborate with agents and brokers to foster productive and profitable relationships
  • Participate in continuing education and training
The ideal location for this role is in Lexington, KY however we are open to very experienced candidates who reside in other locations.
Qualifications
  • BA/BS degree in related field of study preferred
  • 2-5 years of experience in equine and livestock underwriting
  • Advanced knowledge of horses, including the various breeds and uses.
  • Knowledge of common diseases and health issues with horses.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft suite of products
