Berry College is Hiring an Assistant Director of Alumni Relations Near Mount Berry, GA

Job Description:

Berry College is seeking an Assistant Director for the Office of Alumni Relations. Reporting to the Director of Alumni Relations, this individual will work with a team responsible for developing and strengthening a pipeline of engaged alumni through the entire lifecycle, ultimately resulting in increased levels of participation and giving.

The Assistant Director is charged with the successful planning, execution and post evaluation of alumni events, mentor programs and other special initiatives, while building and strengthening relationships with alumni for increased engagement. Events range from small alumni gatherings to large class reunions and donor stewardship events, both on campus and regionally. They will work closely with the director to plan and execute three annual signature events as well as support affinity and chapter activities as needed. They will manage the Alumni Center and will supervise a team of student workers responsible for the daily operations of the facility and department programs.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage all aspects of campus and regional alumni engagement events, including location decisions, contract negotiations, logistics and volunteer management, and budget oversight.
  • In support of events and programming, identify, cultivate, and strengthen relationships with alumni in addition to maximizing existing relationships in collaboration with other Advancement Team members.
  • Coordinate alumni mentor and volunteer programs.
  • Facilitate partnerships and program planning with class officers to educate students on philanthropy and opportunities for engagement post-graduation.
  • Work with Advancement Operations and Marketing teams to develop the registration process and communication plan for events and volunteer programs.
  • Recruit and support alumni engagement committee volunteers for assigned reunions.
  • Coordinate Alumni Work Week and serve as the liaison between campus partners and alumni project managers.
  • Manage the Alumni Center space and reservations, working closely with Campus Scheduling, Catering and Facility Services to coordinate set-ups, staff coverage and maintenance needs.
  • Share the hiring, training, and supervising of a student work team who supports facility operations and department programs.
  • Actively serve as the staff liaison for the Alumni Council Engagement Committee and assist director with council meetings and events.
  • Oversee office operations and work within the established budget to maximize resources.
  • Assist with other department and division initiatives as needed.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 1-3 years of experience in event planning, alumni relations/ development and/or related field.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to facilitate collaborative relationships and work in a team environment.
  • Desire to mentor students.
  • Availability to work occasional nights and weekends, along with overnight travel.
