About this role:

Established PR firm seeks a Controller with excellent communication skills

A well-established and successful NYC PR firm is seeking a Controller to work with partners and the Managing Director. You will play a critical role in managing the financial aspects of the organization. This is a small firm with a supportive culture and this is a stand-alone role.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Financial Oversight:

• Documenting, monitoring, and updating accounting policies to ensure compliance with industry standards.
• Undertaking the financial operations of the company, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and financial reporting.

1. Budget Management:

• Reviewing quarterly and annual budgets for all departments within the PR firm.
• Collaborating with department heads to ensure budget adherence and efficient resource allocation.

1. Financial Reporting:

• Preparing and analyzing financial statements, including balance sheets and income statements.

1. Payroll:

• Managing payroll (via PEO) to ensure accurate employee compensation per pay period.
• Manage 401k plan in conjunction with partners.

Skills & Experience:

• At least 5 years’ experience in bookkeeping or controllership, ideally in a creative environment.
• Supervisory skills with a minimum of 5 years in a supervisory capacity.
• Familiarity with Sarbanes-Oxley controls (a plus).
• Proficiency in Excel, QuickBooks and other relevant software tools.
• Process improvement skills and adaptability to change.

Salary: $100,000 - $130,000
