Position: Human Resources Generalist

FSLA Status: Full-time/Non-Exempt

Location: Mesquite, TX

Travel: Up to 10% of domestic travel

Pay Rate: $28.00/hr

Scope of the Role

The Human Resources Generalist supports the daily HR functions at the BCP Fulfilment Center inclusive of recruitment, onboarding, timekeeping, leaves of absence, and HR administration. This role acts as a point of contact for all HR-related matters like payroll, benefits, and employee relations, and liaises with BCP Corporate Headquarters. The HR Generalist is a champion of BCP’s culture and supports leadership in promoting employee experience for all employees.

Reporting Structure

The Human Resources Generalist reports to the Human Resources Manager or the Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) (based on location) and partners with employees throughout the organization.

Essential Functions & Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as active HR presence for employees and managers, inclusive of but not limited to employee consultations, daily timecard maintenance for temporary employees, internal/external HR inquiries, and ad hoc projects as assigned by HR Management and/or Management team(s).
  • Support / assist supervisors with the time and attendance system to ensure work time punches and non-work time are accurately reflected in the system for full-time employees.
  • Address employment relations issues, such as work complaints and harassment allegations; conduct fair and unbiased investigations and attend and support employee disciplinary meetings and terminations as needed.
  • Manage onboarding and offboarding process for staff.
  • Support planning, coordinating, and facilitating engagement and other employee experience events.
  • Ensure compliance with Employee Handbook; communicate human resources policies, procedures, laws, and standards to new and existing employees.
  • Maintain compliance and keep abreast with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; review policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Assist the Training & Development Specialist with reviewing and tracking mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments for employees, inclusive of safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, development plans / learning paths, and certifications.
  • Handle employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
  • Participate in Safety and Engagement Committees.
  • Manage workers’ compensation claims and leaves of absences.
  • Manage OSHA logs to ensure compliance with Heath & Safety policies.
  • Prepare and update employment records related to the employee lifecycle.
  • Use good judgment, discretion, and confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with staffing agencies and coordinate assignments for temporary employees.
  • Coordinate recruitment for full-time hourly roles including but not limited to conducting pre-screen calls, scheduling onsite interviews, coordinating pre-screen drug tests, and participating in onboarding activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Required Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field is preferred; comparable work experience may be substituted to meet educational requirements.
  • 3 years’ experience in an HR role (Coordinator, Administrator, Generalist, etc.); experience within a warehouse or distribution center environment is highly preferred.
  • Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, negotiation, conflict resolution skills, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
  • Possesses strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Can prioritize tasks and ensure timely deliverables across multiple responsibilities.
  • Has the ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Demonstrates thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s HRIS and talent management systems; experience using ADP Workforce Now is strongly preferred.
  • Can work in prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Can work flexible hours and overtime during peak periods at the FC.
