Responsibilities
- Leads the team in delivering excellent customer service in all aspects of the job.
- Checks in with customers regularly to ensure their needs are being met with excellence.
- Holds the team accountable to serve customers well.
- Supervises staff and student workers, as well as contract cleaners assigned to the shift, in completing daily Building Service tasks.
- Prioritizes, schedules, and assigns tasks to 2 nd shift staff custodians. Re-assigns personnel to respond to special circumstances and emergency cleaning projects as needed.
- Meets regularly with manager and other custodial supervisors to discuss communication, planning, training, scheduling, and prioritizing workloads.
- Assists manager in the hiring and training of staff custodians, and in resolving performance or behavioral concerns among the team.
- Leads the custodial shift staff in cleaning and maintaining 3900 academic buildings for users according to standards set by Facilities Mgmt. manager, including bathrooms, corridors, meeting rooms, floors, stairwells, entryways, and trash/recycling.
- Prioritizes the cleaning of high-traffic, high-visibility spaces for the guest and student experience (i.e. – CLC / BAC / BC admissions and guest routes, main campus entrances/stairs, Eastlund & BC4 meeting rooms).
- Ensures the efficient and effective use of staff time, equipment, and resources by setting the pace of work and the use of necessary tools in order to meet established work schedules and deadlines.
- Supports the Bethel community through completing work orders, responding to custodial emergencies, and completing assigned tasks and projects in a timely manner.
- Evaluates and makes recommendations for equipment, cleaning methods and supplies, and work performance standards to ensure a more effective and efficient cleaning program.
- Coordinates with manager and works proactively with custodial shift staff to set up furniture for all events in and around the 3900 academic complex. Utilizes EMS (Event Management System) software to meet event requirements.
- Ensures excellent customer service by conducting regular sweeps of event spaces throughout the event to ensure standards of cleanliness are met.
- Ensures corridors and bathrooms are clean and paper products are stocked before and throughout all events.
- Other duties as assigned
- Minimum of 3 years custodial related experience.
- Must have working knowledge of swing machines, floor scrubbers and vacuums.
- Must have a strong customer orientation and be committed to building a team that provides superior service to bethel and local community.
- 2 years of related experience.
- High school degree.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
- Requires working in and around chemicals.
- This position is considered essential personnel and must be available outside of normal working hours if needed to support contingency operations such as snow removal or support of special events.
- Must comply with environmental health and safety requirements and procedures as outlined in University and State policies and directives.
- 40 hours per week, overtime as needed.
- 12 months per year.
- Pay: $22/hour
