Summary

Provides overall direction, coordination and evaluation of the Home Health, Hospice and Private Duty agencies. Establishes current and long-range objectives, including time frames to achieve. Develops philosophy, policies and procedures assuring compliance with state and federal regulations. Communicates with and interacts with medical director related to home health/hospice, patients and families and participates in patient care meetings. Establishes and maintains an effective system of communication throughout the organization. Prepares monthly statistical reports related to home health care, hospice activities and private duty. Markets the agencies in order to maintain and develop relationships in areas served. Maintains current knowledge of the principles and practices of business administration. Provides advice, guidance, direction and authorization to carry out major plans and procedures, consistent with established policies and Board approval. Designs and maintains a system to ensure timely reporting of business and financial information to the Board of Directors, and as appropriate, other managers. Involved in reviewing and analyzing annual budget for the agencies. Reviews invoices for accuracy and submits for approval according to stated practice. Ensures compliance with and participates in established Quality Assurance Performance Improvement (QAPI) program. Ensures State and Federal standards are met and upheld. Monitors agency safety practices to maintain compliance with established policies and procedures as well as governmental laws and regulations. (e.g. OSHA) Interviews, selects, recommends the hiring of counseling and discipline of staff in accordance with human resources policies and procedures. Maintains appropriate personnel records, administrative records, and all policies and procedures of the agencies. Counsels and disciplines agency staff in accordance with human resources policies and procedures. Participates in orientation for new staff, regularly scheduled in-service education programs, and opportunities for continuing education of the staff. May be assigned other duties as appropriate.

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree or equivalent with Master's degree preferred
  • Four to ten years related experience and/or training in health services, business management or related field
  • Five years of home health care executive management experience or relevant experience to area of expertise
  • Demonstrated knowledge and well-developed skills in precision, problem solving, persuasiveness, professional communication, initiative, analytical ability, ingenuity, tactile sensory perception, memory, concentration, judgment, and patience
  • Experience in budget preparation, accounting principles and procedures, systems development and administration
  • Experience with personnel management, and data processing system
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities in developing a workplace marked by collaboration and teamwork, establishing goals and a course of action for self/others to be successful
  • Understanding the needs of the patients/families served and anticipating and providing solutions to client needs
  • Ability to express ideas and concepts clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to perform necessary documentation in writing
  • Ability to lift, transfer, and/or move items or patients with weights of 10 to 200 lbs and who vary with ability to assist using proper lifting techniques and asking for assistance when necessary
  • Manual dexterity and skillful use of hands when working with patients and equipment
  • Ability to perform critical thinking, medical assessments and judgments
